my aunt/uncle and cousins would come from Michigan to Ill. every x mas , and they would bring their dog "pete" along who would have to ride in the dark car trunk of their Rambler all the way here and back. I can remember uncle John calling him to "get in pete" poor dog always looked so dejected when he had to get locked in there. I always felt so bad for him, so this pic made me chuckle . " get in Susan"

A few years after Steve Allen had the Sunday night show that competed with Ed Sullivan, he had his own show that was local here in L.A. He was funny as usual but wthout the men-on-the-street comedians. He would often visit the Hollywood Ranch market and interview people there. Once in a while, it would be a celebrity avoiding the public by shopping after 10PM. So he had both a national show and later a local show that many of us enjoyed.

Reminds me of that joke about locking your dog and wife in the trunk of your car for an hour and see which ones happy to see you when you open it.
