3 speed on the column. OT 5 speed

Whenever I make engine sounds and air-shift, it's a 4-speed.

 

Stick in my OT daily.
Auto in my HAMB-friendly truck.
I bought the truck with the 'wrong' color paint, the 'wrong' color interior, the 'wrong' wheels and tires, and the 'wrong' transmission.
It's exactly what I wanted........ ........ other than that.

Still running a 3 on the column for mine, as an original Fordomatic wouldn't be a nice thing to find parts for with a 50s car...

Chevy 6 cylinder , M20 Muncie 4 speed and a Chevy car 12 bolt rear end. Reassembling now.

 

My roadster has a 3 speed with a custom mount and linkage to move the shifter to the center.

 

@scotty t beat me to it. Autogear makes a strong unit based on the Muncie configuration.

 

Register bushing so Saginaw would fit?

I used a Hotheads kit. I did need to press in the pilot bushing slightly for clearance.

My 32 Ford 5 window has a Muncie 4 speed , my 59 Impala has a BW 4 speed and my 57 vette has a BW 4 speed. All real hot rods have 3 pedals.

 

I guess not. I didn't need any spacer like that. I used the stock bellhousing and a hydraulic throw out bearing

 

That's truck bell housing. It has the larger register hole in it.

If you're using a passenger car transmission, it will fit but there will be a gap, as would be filled by the aforementioned ring.

If you have a car transmission in there and you have the gap, with no ring to fill it I can pretty much guarantee you that your input shaft is not running concentric with your crankshaft.

You might get lucky, or you might kill your transmission or damage the rear main bearing, and or wipe out the pilot bushing.

 

That makes sense. I got the bellhousing and transmission out of a van.

It's lot fancyer then how I did my own back in 1959,as a teen just banging away!.
I got lowest cost floor shifter at the time, "Indy" was Hurst bottom of the line for my Ford 3speed,,that didn't seem to be junky.
Too get the shifter into the center of my hotrod "28A" floor, I heated the lever red hot in two spots,one low ,little above the 3speed tranny case at floor level bent 90* to right horizontal,and then #2spot @ 4in, higher on lever to make it 90* up ,straight up*{ an now it was close to center}.
Kind of simple,but has worked well from 1959 tell now.
Doing that did make shift lever shorter by about 4in.,but I've always used a beer-tap handle as a shiftnob, adding a foot more hight. The "Z" in lever is fully covered by the homemade shift boot

I am converting my Track T from a auto to a stick, 5 speed going in.

 

Stick in all my cars except the blown 57, It has a full manual turbo 400

The '50 is a three on the tree, and the '64 is a 4 spd.

 

Man, that is awesome. I thought everyone had went to automatics. I, myself like all hotrods, but i smile a little brighter at a car with three pedals.

 

The ring is cheaper than the fallout from not having it (if it needs it).

 

T-10 with a Super Shifter and mechanical clutch linkage in my ‘32 5W.

 

The only automatic in the fleet is the wife's car, and it creeps me out every time I drive it.

Then your trans "most likely" has the larger bearing retainer which is another way around it when it comes to Saginaw's.

 

My Falcon has a 6-speed manual.

My A has a 3-speed automatic, as it is the only transmission that fit the bill

The dailies have 6-speed, dual-clutch (no torque converter) direct shift automatic gear boxes, with paddle shifters.
