I feel that you should allow for more suspension upgrades. Sometimes just keep your '38 Hupmobile suspension just doesn't work out.

WTF Nearly 70% of you HAMBers bestowing accolades on @Ryan for his great work, or (worse yet) want to make suggestions, don't even bother to support this great work with an Aliance Membership. This place costs @Ryan time and money to run...and it seems like many HAMBers treat it like a free playground. RANT OVER.
Well big guy, Ryan has a house in Texas, house in Hawaii, owns a Porsche, etc, I don't believe me no renewing my alliance hurt his pocket book. The advertising probably generates money, but that's not any of my business. It wasn't personal when I didn't renew last time, it was a business decision, I don't make it a habit to give away money. None of the alliance discounts benefited me, most links didn't even work. I rarely use the classifieds here, there's no 60 Chevy parts to be found. Now if speedway starts giving discounts for being an alliance member, Jeg's, summit, I can see where it would benefit me. I try to help out where I can with giving info on the subjects I know how to do, and I trade that info for answers to the questions that I have. So don't be pissed at someone else over the fact that they don't have "alliance member" over their name, I did it for the first 2 years, and wondered why some of the other guys here didn't, but then I just stopped giving a shit. Free exposure to the entire membership and the public for your business and Ashley’s upholstery work too. If that’s not worth the $50 bucks a year to you then I think you’re missing the point. The HAMB is a great place for information and friendship with like minded people and I support it simply for that reason. I’ve made some good friends here like Danny @HOTRODPRIMER and others. And I don’t have a business and I’m retired. Your ranting about Ryan sounded like a heavy tinge of jealousy to me as in look at what he’s got or what he’s accomplished, why should I contribute to that. So as far as I’m concerned you can keep your ranting to yourself as we’re not interested.

When I first joined the HAMB I wasn't an Alliance member. After a couple of years or so I decided to join. I have received discounts but probably not enough to cover the costs of membership over the years. But I'm not complaining. I think its a personal decision about membership. I do know that I have gained a boat load of info, knowledge, and inspiration from all who participate here on the board regardless of their membership status. And for WIW, if the boss had a problem with people not joining the Alliance my guess is that he would speak up. That said my suggestion is that we go back to building hot rods or realizing that its always a Dodge. JMHO
I believe all the mods are Alliance members..... we just don't have the badge under our names.... Just the target badge "Moderator" I could care less about someone status in life or where they live. If they treat me with respect, they have mine. And yes.... it takes a TON of mileage to run this place..... and is the simply the best, despite what some think. Anyhow.. the wealth of info and friends I have made since my official on board in 2003 has been simply fantastic.
My take? The HAMB isn't about money. I appreciate Alliance Members more than I can write. Sincerely. If it weren't for those guys, this place wouldn't exist. But ultimately, I care more about preserving traditional hot rods and custom cars than I do about making a buck. Mentioning my home in Texas, Hawaii, and my Porsche? Now... that's a bit weird man...
Lloyd, one correction needs to be made, the Alliance Member is under the user name. I have been a Alliance Member ever since it was established, I'm not looking for brownie points or the discounts although I have used the discounts with several vendors. My reasoning is I want to help fund the Hamb and help insure it doesn't go the way of many a web sight that has the number of members the hamb has, the server cost has got to be insane. Having had to close the doors and turn off the lights on the "54 Ford Club of America" website earlier this year was done strictly because we could not afford the astronomical cost involved in switching over to a new server because the one we had used could no longer support our small worldwide group, that and the fact we were a one year only site. I talked with the president of the national club and even he had felt the pinch of mailing the actual news letter, the club dues and membership has fallen off due to age, death and lack of interest, but for a web site to continue it cost real money. Most of us have had a job or retired, Atomic Industries is Ryan's job, he built the Jalopy Journal and for a lot of those years he paid for it out of his pocket. The beauty of the Hamb is it's free to everyone, I personally feel like as much as I use it this site I need to support it, as far as Ryan's personal life, I'm happy for him that he has found a job that can give him everything he has worked so hard for. I'm not targeting you Lloyd nor anyone else that decides not to join the alliance, that's a members personal choice. HRP

Straying a bit from the prime subject, it occurs to me that the one of the reasons we have any problems around here is because people perceive tone in the things they read. Either through jealousy or past trespasses, we read tone in the voice we think the writer used as he was was typing it. And, it's usually just being translated mockingly in our heads and wasn't the writer's intention at all. We then tend to lash back in a tone that is very real and direct. We could all use a little lesson in tact here and there. And, we all get a bit big for our britches at times. We have to come together in support of this hobby and focus our hatred where it belongs... on those damned ricers. . j/k Other than that, I freakin' love it here! Besides, the $50 Alliance Membership is cheap as chips when it comes to the level of entertainment I get from watching you gobs fight all day and night. My suggestion... We need more nuns around here to straighten you hoodlums out, once and for all. You see, we didn't have any of this crap when I went to school. I am 53, and to this day, I am still terrified of nuns. Always best to carry a photo copy, of the Alliance member dash tag to see if there is a discount! You never know where it will come in handy !
I was gonna suggest a thread for all the "what's it worth" questions, as opposed to seeing 5 of those each week. The forum idea takes that one step further. Although, when I tell somebody what I think their stuff is worth, they usually get pissed at me.
How about a place for all the locked threads, so some folks might read through them and learn what not to say, Seriously, I’m happy with this place as is, but I’m sure whatever the boss does will make the place even better.
Works hard, has nice things, that's odd... Especially added on top where they give so much to our hobby/sport/whatever it is we do. Without @Ryan there is no community like we have. If he is successful we should be appluading this, not some BS jealous sledge. Anyway thanks to this thread just realised my Alliance membership was overdue, if nothing else this thread has reminded me to get off my ass and sort that out. Hopefully that helps keep the lights on here a little or helps Ryan buy a place in Tahiti filled with topless brown girls and 33 coupes or whereever he dreams of next, perhaps even Detroit??? I dont care, just stoked the HAMB is here and value how much its worth and happy to contribute in a small way to that. For less than 1 beer at the bar every couple weeks, you too can do that or not....
Exactly! It is not that hard to understand....Hard work, honesty, doing what's right & giving back leads to success/nice things! Jealousy sucks. As for the new stuff....The "Events Section" I like a lot. If I know about something happening in the future & I happen to be transporting in that area, I may have the opportunity to stop. I renewed my Alliance membership a couple of days ago, I am fortunate to be able to help support the only website I use. The Hamb is still a FREE site and I sincerely hope it will always remain that way. Believe me the ALLIANCE MEMBER under the name doesn't come with a free pass, off topic post will get deleted as quick as any other member of the hamb! HRP
