Have a chance to pick up an unfinished project with a Poli-Form glass body. Any comments on quality of Poli-Form? Thank you.

  2. You used to be able to buy those for $1,400. They're were acceptable for SCTA specs, since they're within a 1/4 of an inch, of an original Henry. They're thin, could use a couple layers more fiberglass laid inside, for the street

Excellent quality. I have had one on my vintage circle track car for 20 years. no problems.

If I am remembering correctly…they did lots of race (thin) stuff. Their street stuff was quite thick. All was chopper gun…good quality, strong, not the straightest bodies though.

  7. I used several sets of fenders back in the day and they were thick and took minimum blocking to finish. I did have to do a little work on side of the '33-'34 fenders at the front corner under the grille point.

I used Wescott fenders on my A rdstr pu…they were thin. A buddy used Poly-form fenders on his A sedan…they were thick. Hand laid usually are thinner…chopper gun usually are thicker. We built them side by side in the mid-80’s…both still look mint today!

They were built here in Santa Cruz by Dick Williams, who sadly (I believe) is no longer with us. He was a f'glas expert and his bodies, mostly '26-'27 T's, had a very good reputation.

We met Dick and Peggy back in 1990 when they lived at Santa Cruz and then Dick came to Australia for a visit. I saw him at Bonneville in 2010 and recently wondered whether he was still around.

    .

Dick did build two weights of bodies, the street bodies and the race bodies. It's been probably 34 years Since I talked to someone at a display of his bodies at an event.
Way back Further than that I won one of his 32 dashes as a door prize at an event. It was a lot nicer than the glass one I have in the garage now and had a business card laminated in the back.
The quality will be there but if you are buying it as a street car you want the heavier street car body.

  12. My brother bought a pair of Model T front fenders from Poli-form in 1979. They were the street thickness ones and were of very good quality.
