History WIDE FIVE Hot Rod Picture Thread

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Retson the Racer, Jun 18, 2022.

  1. I’m starting to fall in love with wide five wheels.

Post wide five wheel photos, whether your own pics or just a great photo as long as it’s H.A.M.B. Friendly!!

To start, here is a photo from Pat Ganahl. 24-25 Dodge with Model A fenders and ‘39 wide dive wheels. F1F3A4FA-B0FA-42EC-98A3-8862C7316B69.jpeg

When I built my single seater I used 40 ford front and rear axles with five on five and a half but I thought being race car inspired it needed wide fives. The fronts are stock width and the rear I widened using a mopar minivan sixteen inch hoop. 3BC81BD6-A044-4591-A592-A60BD7156B5C.jpeg

@hfh That car looks just right. Do you have a build thread, or some details?

  7. I've just started collecting parts to put wide 5's on my 29 coupe.
    I love the look.

The car belongs to my friend. It’s nicely done.

I shot this at Speed Week a few years back. Great looking car (the Ford); unknown owner.

If your car is on wide 5's but you hate their looks (as on my '36), you may want to know that some
'40ish 3/4 ton truck wheels have the wide 5 bolt pattern and hubcaps, but the centers have 5 discreet little slots & no artillery spokes. No, I didn't have 2 colors of hubcaps on the car at the same time.
    Caution: these are RARE.

  29. Previous owner painted the drums white. Not a fan, so I covered them with caps. I might paint the drums gunmetal gray someday and pull the caps... maybe.
