A few more tales from the (car) crypt! My latest visit to the junkyard. The blackberries and raspberries nearly got the best of me, but I gave as good as I got, and ate my fill!

Damn, that '59 Olds 2 door hardtop is cool. Maybe could be saved, if not should at least get stripped and parted out. Would be a shame if it just sits there or gets scrapped.

 

Not sitting or rotting anymore. Seen at Lowes today. No owner around. I sure hope whoever got it doesn't screw it up. To many of these get tore apart and never put back together. It looked like a nice car. I should have waited for the owner and seen if I could buy it. A good detailing, Lowering, dropped headlight bar, hop up the motor and call it good.

 

^^^ I almost thought it was a cream colored car or two-tone but that's all just dust.

That first year Avanti looks like it could be saved. Always liked the round headlights on those better than the later square trimmed ones.

 

I wonder what it is? It looks like a V8 but I don't think it's a Cadillac.

 

Looks like an old hot rodded Model T to me.

 

Now that you say that, it looks like a Model T firewall.

 

Cadillac V8's had the exhaust manifolds on top near inlet manifold I think.

Exactly. I was told it was likely a V8-60 and I agree. I got a better look at the head and the two bolts below the water outlet are closely spaced.

 

V8 60 has 17 stud heads. Other flatheads up through early '38 are 21 stud, late '38 and up are 24 stud.

 

I didn't realize it wasn't all one color until you mentioned the dust.

Is that one of those Gutbrod things. Looks like it has a banjo steeringwheel.

 

I think the PA plate is from Dalsland,,,my place!!
And the engine is a powerful 42 cubic-inches!!

That is not fiberglass. That is an all steel and aluminum MGA.
