4C Racing out of San Jose, built the hubs and furnished the backing plates. I have set of Frankland hubs like these, with Buick drums, if I can fit the proper backing plates, I want to use them. I was told by the the guys that ran Supermodifieds, they were the toughest when smacking the wall, due to the rounded design, instead of spokes. Out of the 10 of these cars I built, 7 had wide 5's. 2012-12-05 093229 - Copy.jpg

  12. I’m doing that with my tudor. Have any more photos? Send me a message if you need help figuring it out, it’s a bunch of random ford parts.

    Any more photos?

Greg Weld supermodified aluminum wide 5's. Were very rough from years of the dirt track wars but the price was right. _side_ - Copy.jpg

  24. Wide fives were primarily on race cars not so much on street cars and yes So Cal was where 80% of 50's cars were created, so it was the main hot rod center of the country.

I would like to see a citation that attests to that number.

Even if it were accurate, it does not negate my statement.

I grew up in New England, and a there were a TON of hot rods in shows and on the street with Wide-5's. Nobody considered them unusual.

  26. This thread wasn’t created to argue whether or not wide five wheels are period or correct and whatnot.

    This is a picture thread.

If you want to discuss decades and whether it’s correct or not, make your own thread.

Here’s a badass picture to get BACK ON TOPIC.
