  3. very good price (for a runs and drives) but I still don't see why MOST every 55-57 TBird is just 20-25K, and there seems to be be tons to choose from in that range. I don't see that many driving around for how commonly I see them listed.
I actually have seen a few again pop up and go at about 9K-10K, which is a more more fire sale price.

I'm a sucker for early fifties coupes (NOT two door sedans). I didn't know Packard made one. If I were 20 years younger, I'd be all over this one.

The purchase price is better than you could hope for.
Fix the rust and everything else, drop in a 440 and everything else...
And you've got yourself a not often seen Badass Mopar muscle car.
And just old enough for the HAMB.

Some of the examples posted in this thread seem kinda pricey for projects, and others seem too far gone for me. This one I thought was actually a pretty good deal. 2 door hardtop, factory dual quad hemi engine, very complete, would make a hell of a cool mild custom, and $10K isn't peanuts but it seems pretty reasonable for this car. Not mine, and I don't have room for another, but seemed worth sharing.

I haven't been following along on this thread. And I'm sure glad 'cause that one was a steal at that price and I would have been sorely tempted. A real 300!!

CL seems to be full of 'em...

Bought a half dozen cars on CL, other than that, FB Marketplace is about as far as I've gone. Heard the youngsters (phone types) all like Offer Up but I've not downloaded the app. Not a big app guy.

"I saw that Simca advertised on some car sales website ... in another state ... for about twice the price. Thought about starting a thread asking about how much of a scam it is."

yes, quite often there are scams on those for sale sites like facebook marketplace. you can usually spot them because they usually only want $1,000-$1500 for something that should bring ten times that or when you are on FBM and you click on the sellers name and that car/truck/trailer/golfcart/etc shows up in 75-125 different cities, you know it is a scam.

but don't forget it might be legit too, don't forget about us flippers. if you see a date and it was listed for $1500 3 weeks ago but now appears across state line and now wants just double it might be legit. scammers usually list it cheaper but you could be right the one in the other state could be the legit listing and the other lower priced ad could be a scammer. Just never know.

me and my buddy brought a Dynaweld 25t. trailer in Il. for $4200 at an online equipment auction and it will be for sale here in Wi. for $7500 next month.

A few years ago I looked at a rolled coupe body at a swap meet on saturday and walked away. Got a couple of rows away and told the wife I was going back and buying it for the $1200 they wanted. got back just as someone else just brought it, oh well. Sunday night cruising the car section on cl and that same day someone just posted that same coupe for sale for $3500. lost that deal, I was going to list it for only $2700.

then you got that roadster here many years ago that someone posted off that auction site and no one could figure out the scam. buy it now for $1500. turns out it was legit, the owner died and the family just didn't want it and didn't realize how much it was actually worth. so here we are trying to figure out why it was so cheap and how the scam worked and someone finally just hit the buy it now and got a great deal.

so if you see something listed at different places for different prices, maybe it is a scam, maybe not.

I have seen ads I convincingly declared a scam. I do wonder though. My FBM or CL modus operandi is to text 'em, ask a few questions. If they reply and it sounds worth the drive, I ask where I can see the item, most often at a Starbucks. Then show up with a sidekick and a personal protection device. I honestly can't say why I've passed on what looks like a scam other than not wanting to waste my time or risk a holdup.

What's the scammer's play? Fraud via phone, old fashioned armed robbery or something else?

Could use a lot of parts off of that. Too bad it's on the other side of the world. Cost too much to get it here unfortunately.

No side pics to confirm the coupe claim. Looks more like a 41. Cheap? Not the easiest project to find
