Thanks…my 15 minutes of fame, Good Guys Gazette cover! Editor at the time (2006) was KIRK!
Pic was taken in the GG’s Madison show parking lot…the cruising down the highway part, is what I believe a California background photoshopped in!
    (Thanks again, KIRK!)

Thanks for that drive - sometimes when a desert road is clear here and I can see for miles, I drive on the left side just to remind myself of all the great drives I've taken in New Zealand, only thing that gives me fits driving in left-hand countries are the roundabouts.

I love the shots of hot rods cruising down the road. Here's several that I have shot for my buddies and their hot rods.

    Hello,

It is not an everyday thing to have a cool 1932 Ford Roadster following your car in traffic. Let alone being a Red one. My wife noticed it a while back and said the guy looked happy. But, for the life of me, concentrating on driving in some moderate traffic was the first priority. I did get my trusty old digital camera out, just in case he came up closer to us.

Our turn off was coming up and the Red 32 Roadster was not gaining on our position. It was a moment not to be lost, so a centering position and click to capture any focus or composition took place. Just like the old Kodak Box Cameras, except for better lens, megapixels and quality Leica Lens (Lumix) in a fairly old digital camera, it was a point and shoot moment.

At the stop light, I switched to movie mode and the moment never happened as we turned off at our destination direction. Oh well, there is always next time on one of our many beach side, coastal highway cruises during this pandemic. Blue water, blue sky, nice waves all made for a wellness, uplifting day to get us back in the picture… pun intended.

    Hello,

Ever since I was little, I was a patient guy. Except for one 1949 Christmas Eve in our old Craftsman House on the Westside of Long Beach. Through thick and thin, “patience was a virtue” my mom told me over and over. She also added in the word “endure” into the conversations we had as a teenager vs mom.

If we were not patient, things would not go our way. Countless times, things did not go our way until we settled down and looked at the situation to slow down. We let it go, as it (whatever) was not the Earth shattering thing and we would live to enjoy another day.

So, jump many years to our weekly coastal cruise to mellow out during the pandemic. We follow the guidelines for treating the pandemic to our best ways possible. What we missed will always be there and if it wasn’t there later, well, it was no big thing, at the time. Shopping, restaurants, large super spreader activities and such are there, but they will still be there when this is all over and safe. It may have seemed impossible to pass up, by it was one of those times when something was happening and needed to be treated as such. It might never happen again… but…

    Jnaki

The times my wife and I see different hot rods and customs cruising around So Cal coastal areas or even when we go many miles inland, there are always hot rods in So Cal. Sometimes they are out in droves and other times, a sighting is as exciting as a rare Monarch Butterfly fluttering in the backyard. The saying is… “It happened once and it will happen again…” But, who knows when? Patience…then Endure…

So, when we both saw the red 1932 Ford Roadster driving down a major street leading to the coastal highway, we thought it was “a sight for sore eyes” moment. A red 32 Ford roadster!!! It instantly reminded me of my old friend, Jack Stewart and his pristine red 32 Ford roadster. So, trying as much as possible, the moment was fleeting and it disappeared within a block or two. But a fast digital photo captured a moment in time.

Yesterday, after doing some work with our son, we were on the way home and saw what was a sight we had not seen for quite some time. Another red 32 Ford roadster? Coming our way? What a chance encounter again. Thoughts instantly went to the old photo in the rear view mirror and without focusing to capture the short viewing time, snapped and hoped for the best.

At home, viewing the digital camera photos was exciting. Was it the same one captured in the rear view mirror in an instant many days ago? Would the instant point and shoot angle come out OK or would the image be a moving blur?

It was the same red 1932 Ford roadster, with the same happy driver, enjoying a warm sunny day near the coast. How is that for patience and the pleasure of waiting for the right moment in time?

Now, the next encounter should show more details of this iconic roadster in So Cal. Naw, it could not be Jack Stewart’s old red 32 roadster, could it? Time and patience will tell… YRMV
