    WOW.

Did I miss you saying what color you're going back with?

OOOPS!!! I just found your answer back on the previous page in response #354.

Somehow I managed to totally screw up the last picture…oh well. The car is going back the original color, I’m thinking of doing the stripe in a root beer candy lace. Just for a little fun.

Sorry. But at least it bought your thread back to the top.

  6. No worries I didn’t remember I had said what color!! I don’t have the ambition to paint door jambs etc. plus my wife likes the color!

  7. What type of primer ya using.
    Brand and urethane? Polly? Other?

  8. It’s Endura, mainly used for industrial equipment, since the bulk of my painting experience is industrial, I’m comfortable spraying it. The sealer and primer are urethane and their top coat is polyurethane. It’s reasonable in price and tougher then hell. Wouldn’t use it for a show car but for a driver it’s fine, it’s what I put on everything.

Glad to see all the side trim holes:D I think the side trim makes it look more like a "Deluxe" model instead of a stripped down base model.;)

Built an epic paint shanty!! Since when is tuck tape blue? Must be the taillight company’s complaining…anyways, painting has begun, gold base is on for the stripe, more to come, depending on outcome…

Last time I went to the lumber store I was told the red tape was no longer code compliant here, only the blue tape was.

  16. Jeff, I had no plans to paint the car this year, apparently having two running and driving old vehicles for a summer is too easy…I have lots of other stuff to do at home that have got pushed off! And I go back to work in a few weeks…:(

  17. So for once something actually worked….I think…since I left the trim I thought I would do something fun for the stripe, the interior has brown so I brought that into the stripe. Decided to try something I have never tried before.

Found this. Put a gold base down. Let it dry until it was tacky and stuck some lace to it.

put some metallic brown over it. ED635F3A-4CE4-487C-9453-EDC444DCA6FA.jpeg

Did a panel on the trunk as well.

  18. Peeled the lace off after the brown set up a little.

mixed up some poor man’s kandy, clear tinted with the brown, took the bite out of the gold.

Now mask the stripe hopefully tomorrow and spray the rest.

Good on you. I like it.

I'm old enough to remember when folks were doing lace, spiderweb, panel stripes, fading paint colors, when candies first became popular, etc., etc.

A few people do some of this stuff nowadays but not very many.

  21. I’ve wanted to do it on something for awhile. Seemed like a good time

  22. Three coats of paint on it. Hard to get a decent picture… 4E4BC603-27E0-437F-B408-089EB953EF4D.jpeg

  23. Of course there had to be one mosquito in the trunk lid.

Only one? Your lucky! I usually get the spider that won’t die and walks half way across the deck lid or roof.

A few laps of tape around the drillbit will help you not to smash the chuck into the new paint.
