Mikey your coupe is bad ass. Good to see its all back together. A couple of changes to the engine over the winter and we can put that bad boy on some nitro. Hello 7 sec time slips. Your car is no poser thats all show and no go. One of my favorites.
This thread has some good ones, too. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/baddest-coupe-would-go-to.1003502/ Keep it rollin' fellas. I love "wicked" hot rod coupes.
Thank you very much Brian. I would love to progress to NITRO, we will see . It took me 4 years to get into the 8,s. I achieved the goal. The coupe can be unpredictable at times but thats part of the fun. Keep us posted on yours, the most wicked coupe around.
Racer -X , you do have a wicked coupe!! I know you think out side box & surrounded by knowledgeable people/fabricators, followed your build, Rebuilding after the crash.. Is the statement correct 6:99 or Quicker in 1/4. around 185 ish & faster (190-4)? Your coupe on those tire size with steel Dodge body in pic ? Or do you have another body that is more Aerodynamic with wing ? I think your set up body can be removed. I know your chassis & engine combination good for 6:99 & faster , If no body change , around 800 ft to 1320 How stable is the run? Around early 90s @ Orlando drove in off street to what most just thought was a HR steel 32 Ford with blower ,tubed with Mc tires No cage ,No paint & Not knowing street racer 1st pass, easy shack down pass, 2nd little harder , was worn to fast, 3rd , knew what was going to happen , Full pulls @ 7,800 @ time slip shack "band " over 155. mid 8:6 ,,, around 800-900 ft car started moving around very bad , Full fenders running boards could been problem, the 32 never ran 1/4's again with that engine combo, just 1/8 th & street.
Can't leave out our very own hamber @daddy_o's_diner Gold beauty. ONE wheelin His thread https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...uce-5-window-updated-with-race-video.1094894/
The body is steel. It was chopped the width of a piece of duct tape. I wrapped it around the top and cut on the line. The car did run in the sixes in the quarter mile 4.2 in the eighth at 153 mph. There is video of the run. The tires are the exact spec tires used by the current front engine fuel dragsters. M+H 12.5 x 16 They just look small on my big car. Running no fenders helps alot. They are just big air scoops that slow a car down and cause handling problems at speed. Usually above 130 mph. The body can be removed as it has no floor permanently attatched. I have a frame with arms that grab the body at the firewall and trunk. A fork lift works perfect. The body is not a Dodge its a Chrysler. Its very stable on the top end with a 125 inch wheelbase. Thats the same as a modern day funny car. Its proportioned in a way were its hardly noticed. 112 was stock. 7 degrees of positive caster helps keep it going straight. Thats a big deal that cant be emphasized enough. I can go through the lights with one hand on the wheel and the other on the parachute handle. The chassis is tagged for 6.50 when the car hits 200 mph in the quarter i think i will call it good. Thats fast enough for a street car that also pulls a trailer. To put it all into perspective top fuel dragsters were going 8.5 in 65 for the win at Indy. So 6s in a street car is not too shabby. The next race outing will be the fuel altered nationals in eddyville iowa. We will see how the little street coupe does against the fastest fuel altereds in the country.
