    Thanks, @Stogy
I've been wanting to see an early style strip-down with wooden-spoked wheels.

Cool. Wood-grain those wheels and use 'em on a hot rod.
Then there's that fast Model A with the CNC-machined aluminum "wood" spoke wheels.
Sometimes I wonder if wooden spoke wheels would hold up to burnouts.
    :D heeheeheehee...

...Captured by @40ragtopdown at a Show he recently attended...another of the Homebuilts inspired by the Mechanix Illustrated Magazine...I often think about the bad rap Hotrods were getting back in the post war era and often think these were a way to get a Hotrod experience without the stigma...

There were so many levels of build on these utilizing just about any available car parts and metals available to those at the time...

I talked to Jerry about this car . He said it was one of his favorite cars to drive and he has many really nice hot rods.

I see it has some Essex in the mix...I'll bet they ride as good as the chassis that is underneath them...and no doubt significantly lighter...What was the motor under the hood...the Magazine builds were based on a mid 30s Ford if I'm not mistaken...

    Thanks for chiming in 40...;)

That's beyond insane...the bigcars of the late 20s/30's have the scale to house wild engines combos like that as they had engines rivaling aircraft at the time...

Find out what chassis is under it too and when it was built...That sure has the look of an early 50s timeline...but crafty fellas could have found the mag in 59 or 62 and built it then too maybe with the Younguns...thanks very much...

Gotta be one of those GMC V-12s. I wonder if there are carbonators hidden in the blower cases. Quite a load for the little hoops on the front. You couldn't put a hood on the beast with the radiator 6 or 8 inches higher than the cowl (or on this one it might look right).

    GMC twin six.

The grill shell moved forward makes it look nose heavy.
    Hah... that's a joke, son.

The yellow pickup above needs to have the wheels moved to the right spot, then maybe a change in wheels.

They are turned in but I believe your right about them being fwd proud a tad...the covers on the wheels look somewhat a nod to the moon discs...

Your onto something...way, way back in this Thread I shared an image from out west in Canada...pre WW2 and the fella had a racer that had a similar theme with the body and grill...tires and rims and exhaust were different through, mind you I believe you are aiming for a later period...I'll see if I can find it...
