How’s the weather looking out there? It looks like there is potential rain tonight. We’re currently stuck in SLC traffic on our way to the salt.

It's cloudy and kinda humid but so far it's dry. Storms seem to be missing us so far.

Well this ****s. The family & I have been camped out at Bend in the Road (horrible decision on my part!) & it’s been raining most of the night. I’m doubtful they’ll let anybody on the salt today & there is going to be some stuck campers. This is 2019 all over again when I last attempted bringing the family out to Speed Week. Frustrating. I’m going to have some disappointed kiddos today.

We ended up staying in SLC last night, but will head over sometime today. It has pretty much stopped raining from what I know, but doubt racing will start until tomorrow now.

Hate to admit it...but, we are in a rental car. The engine for the Edsel is still on the engine stand and the transmission in my 56 lost second gear a while back, so not sure I would have trusted it to go 1250 miles each way. This is our test run to know what we are doing next time when we drive something old. :D

  13. SCTA will make an announcement later today. The course and pits are actually on higher ground than Lands End so anything you see there is far worse. As I mentioned elsewhere, a good stiff breeze could move the water away from the courses and racing could get started. We have raced and driven thru ankle deep water getting off the salt. All depends on mother nature

I saw a post on FB from someone who was camped in a Tent at the bend in the road who said the tow truck wanted 500 to tow him out. That place is swamped.

...Lets hope the drainage below inhales the pools...that's hard to like...

Those in the know does it dry up quickly once the rain lifts?

  24. It can dry fast. Best scenario is wind that simply moves the pools off the pits and courses. That forecast looks good for racing to start Monday or so.

This was rust free when we started using it to race at Bonneville. It was retired after 3 years for a newer truck. It was always diligently cleaned at the time, but now has sat idle for the past 16 years. It’s hard to get all the salt out.

Yep, from 1976 to 2013 I sacrifice 5 pickups and 3 trailers and I really took care of my ****.
Word to the wise don’t let anyone in town or at the end of the road PRESSURE WASH your stuff. You rinse off salt and pray for rain all the way home.

That much rain doesn't look like record setting conditions.

Just had a thunderstorm in SLC. Hope this is moving out today as forecasted. Holed up in a hotel airport, didn't seem worth it to go out today. After seeing the pics, glad I didn't make that drive. Maybe tomorrow.
