  2. Nice rod! I'd drive that.
Steel wheels will get rid of the street rod look in a hurry. Just my thoughts on a quick fix.
    Congratulations!

Congrats on the buy! Those pics on the ferry are great. Reminds me of being in the ferry lineup with this 34 Ford coupe back in 2016. Your deuce is very nice! IMG_0882.jpg

  4. Thanks. The guys on the Photoshop thread were playing around a bit... @madfish came up with this one:
    Photoshop 32.png
I'll probably keep it mostly as is (with exception of sorting out a few details) for the short run until the wallet heals a bit.

Thanks. That's a nice looking '34...it's always fun to see what people are hauling to or from the islands via the ferries!

Lol...but see, this is obviously still the view from the outside of deuce owners looking in ("I thought...") ...I'm waiting and looking for for the letter, email, wink and nod from the inside letting me know the ritual/code/uniform etc...;)

Very nice and this is coming from someone who doesn’t like red.
It’s very hard not to like a full fendered 32 3 window unless of course it’s a 5 window ;) and painted Washington Blue :D

As far as the red goes I always thought it was called resale red.

Here I am wishing I had registered for Deuce days.
Didn’t think I wanted to go but now I wouldn’t mind and it’s too late. :( Oh well :)

It's OK Larry, at our age, the ass kicking you give yourself only hurts for a little while because after about three kicks (I'm) wore out.

    Oh hell yes! Nice car!
Just pull the knock-offs off and see if you can squeeze a little bigger tire in the rear and you’ll exorcise most of the dreaded “Street Rod”. At least they didn’t paint the windshield frame and bumpers red.
I did the same thing, bought a (mostly) finished coupe just to get me by ‘til I can get my homemade hot rods running.

Congratulations on a great looking car. Very smart to have one and done that you can drive while you do your amazing magic to complete your projects. It looks like your ticket to to NW Deuce Days that is in your backyard. Definitely will blend in as one of the cool deuce owners. There likely is no hand shakes as the deuce owners will be the ones with hands in their pockets and the big grin like a 50 Buick grill. Congratulations

Looks like you made an excellent purchase. Wish you an enjoyable summer cruizing around in it. You do realize though that this is going to make it even harder to find time to finish your other projects..........:)

    Nice car

Due to the Anacortes to Sidney ferry not running, and the price of everything skyrocketing, I have a Deuce Day registration that will probably go unused. If it can be transferred, you’re welcome to it. I finally have a finished car, and it’s just not in the cards this year.
BTW, is that a Seaward kayak hanging under your 4 post lift?

  15. Thanks for the comments and offer of your registration. Your 3-window is knock out gorgeous! Too bad, you're not going to attend. It seems there have been a number of others that are also changing plans due to high gas prices, ferry issues, family stuff etc...and I've had a few similar kind offers. I need to do a bit of sorting on the car before it's fully ready for the road (so I can travel with confidence). I've done the "thrash to be ready for a car show" many times in the past and frankly, it takes a lot of the fun out of the hobby for me. So, I've vowed not to get into that again. We're going to attend in an off topic car which will serve as the "emergency" or "off site" vehicle for our group. My wife can then comfortably drive the vehicle to do girl stuff once she's reached her upper limit of the show...while I'm still bench racing and bull shining with other car guys, or still wandering the grounds. I do appreciate your offer though.

The hanging kayak is a Current Designs. My wife is the kayaker in our family...the kayak doesn't burn any oil, so it's not really my thing. (she also has a Stellar)

  16. I was debating starting a new thread with a different title...but decided just to continue on this thread. I've been plucking away at making this 3-window my own from both a safety and aesthetic perspective. I'm having fun with this specific little experiment/project so thought I would share it here. While not completed yet, I'm liking the results so far. So here are a few pictures of the interior and interior parts that I didn't care for...first the 90's era billet dash insert (note, this photo was taken by the PO during the build). 86381126.jpg
And, some of the other interior components in place (including the overhead console) painted in the same shade of tan/brown that didn't seem to match or contrast with the surrounds. I sure didn't care for it.
    86381116.jpg
So time to begin making changes...first up was the dash project. After dismantling everything, I mounted the insert in my mill and took a surface cut off the face of the billet insert to get rid of the ball mill grooves. I then re-cut the gauge holes to allow the gauges to be surface mounted rather than back mounted. Then using a cut down 3M Roloc disc, I added engine swirls to the face. I hadn't planned to post any of this so I wasn't diligent at taking photos...but here's a photo of the above progress...I can't seem to stop this photo from posting sideways...not sure why. test.jpg
I then added a 1/4" polished stainless steel rod around the insert for additional eye candy and to give the insert more of a finished look.
    20220806_102514_resized.jpg
Next up, I wanted to try and do something with the tan/brown colour that I simply didn't care for. I decided to try my hand at simulating the burled wood graining that Henry seemed to favour. Here's a couple pics of progress to date on the overhead console and dash. I'm pleased with the results so far. If people are interested I could do a better job of photo documenting and describing the process on some of the upcoming pieces I still have to do.
20220812_164835_resized.jpg 20220819_093440_resized.jpg I'll post more photos once the parts are installed.

I have always liked the Burled Wood Look. Wish I knew how to do that.

It makes my brain hurt to even think of how that burled wood finish is done. The look is immeasurably more attractive than the gastly tan!!!

And....just my opinion....not that it matters...please, please, please, no whitewalls!

Thanks, I'll show you on the next batch.

Thanks...no whitewalls ordered yet...lol! The burled wood process is actually way easier that you'd think...I'll document the next batch....and I agree the "gastly tan" is a good description.

I agree. If you've got to have a convertible, looks like there's a perfectly good one on the lift above the Camaro. Take the money from selling the Camaro, finish the Ford. There, problem solved! ;) Nice Deuce, by the way.
