My wife’s uncle has owned this Plymouth for a while now. He sadly p***ed suddenly and unexpectedly. He sought my thoughts when looking at this car years back and end up purchasing it. No one in his family are car guys and his wife would like to make me a hell of a deal on it to keep it in the family. She says she knows he would’ve wanted me to be it’s new caretaker. The only problem is that the car is 15 hours away from me. She’s throwing in a brand new enclosed car hauler too. I’m thinking about driving up there and bringing it in the trailer and then maybe selling the trailer when I’m back home. What’s y’all’s thoughts on this fury? In my judgement it is a Must Do. No question.
    Any trailer experience?

I’ve towed many cars in my lifetime, not 15 hours but I’ll be alright. My dad had a junkyard when I was growing up and we hauled 100s of junk cars. Slow and easy. The car is super clean. He has the original wheels and tires with original hubcaps also. It’s been a show car for years and never used as a daily. Everything works as it should.

  6. Do it. If the previous owner wanted you to have it then what are you sitting there posting for? Just go get it.

  8. My first car was the very humble Savoy, version of this body style with a leaning tower of power and cable shifted automatic. Had a lot of great times in that car! They are a good size and look sharp. Better than money in the bank.

Why are you even asking what to do? You KNOW what to do...the right thing.
It's a great car, great history. No brainer....good luck.

Sure brings back memories. Friend had one, also a ragtop, when we were teenagers, 440 automatic on the console. Brutally fast, outran everything with a small block and most of everything else.

Take a friend. Somebody you won't hate after 2 days together. Safer and more fun.
    Also...
I imagine you'll be staying overnight. Figure out a way to secure the car and trailer so it doesn't get stolen while you sleep. Maybe take a friend who has a big dog. Doesn't need to bite, just bark.
    Good luck!

I just did a 14 hour trip towing my enclosed racecar trailer stopping only for fuel and that trailer is like towing an open parachute on ****ty Australian poor excuse for roads. No dramas. Just check condition of wheel bearings and tyres on the trailer, hitch it up and get rolling.

  29. Love the car! I had a '65 Sport Fury hard top. Loved that car, black with a maroon hood and it looked like someone had wet sanded the entire car, gl*** included!

Are you nuts?,id be on my way back by now.It can sit in the trailer until you decide which one has to go,those old mopars are the very best of convertibles,i had a 68 Monaco years ago,i miss that car every day.People have travelled farther then 15 hours for a lot less, now hurry up before they change their mind. harvey
