36 Master Deluxe, I really appreciate all the pics of '55 and '56 Plymouths, but I have to tell you you are really picking at a scab of mine. When I was '14 that was my first car. My uncle had driven the wheels off a coral and grey four door and two of my older cousins had learned to drive in it. He called and offered it to me for $7 but it had to be MY money, not borrowed from my Dad. Of course it was ugly but it was all mine. Got it home and the next day had it washed, waxed, vacuumed, and the hubcaps ripped off. Looking good. My Dad got home from work and informed me he had sold my car to someone he worked with for $15. Of course I argued I didn't want to sell. In one day I was in love. He said it is sold, take the profit and be happy. Well, of course I was pissed. Took me a long time to figure out they ganged up on me and tricked me. The plan the whole time was that I clean it up, never did own it.
I had a '55 Plaza 4dr, & 2 '56 Savoy 4drs. I don't think any of the 3 ever had all 4 doors fully latched at the same time.
The thing about the '56 Plymouths, and all Plymouths for that matter, I'm pretty sure that until they went out of the Mopar line-up completely (2001), with the yearly sales battle between Chevy, Ford and Plymouth, Plymouth came in 3rd place every year to the best of my memory...
