Chrysler was way ahead on technology. Drivetrain ,(engines and transmissions etc), Aerospace, A/C etc
Ok push it back one more.. what was “exceptional” about a 56 Chevrolet. All 3 were throw away cars. Everything east of the Mississippi was a rust bucket in 5 or so years. There were more Fords and Chevrolets so more had the possibly to be saved. Racing was big with guys every where and I never saw a V8 MOPAR with stick…so for the most part guys didn’t want them because they were slow. Drag strip, circle track didn’t matter. My dad would never own one because they fell apart. Engines were great not much else in his opinion. They got a bad reputation from that and things linger on. 57’s got the torque flight and things changed but not the body reputation. Back yard mechanics hated their brake system whether better or not Bendix style was everywhere else and ez. Guys hated the E brakes on the drive shaft too.
