I have a fenton valve cover and wondering if they made a matching side cover. Can anyone confirm, have pics or have one to sell?

    Thanks and Happy New Year!

I don't remember ever seeing one. The OBT gear new one has their cast lettering very discretely placed behind the distributor. Not cheap but No big cast letters or insignia.

Valve cover is original, I suspect the side cover could be an older fantasy piece. Not sure.

I saw a side cover on eBay years ago, and it went for more money than I had. I think I saw one on Facebook a few weeks ago, but I don't think the guy ever responded to my comment asking about it.
I have a Fenton valve cover on my 216 that I will use for my 235. I got an OTB Gear side cover and polished it up so it will be a good match. I'd still buy a branded Fenton side cover if I could.

I just acquired a Fenton 235 side cover, which arrived in the mail yesterday. It's the same as in Bear40's post.

Found this thread again because I was searching to see if there had been any discussion on them. Seem to be pretty rare, and I am also wondering if Fenton made them, or if someone conjured them up themselves.

Fenton made them. They're pictured in my 1959 Fenton catalog. Also, I bought one N.O.S. in Carlisle about thirty years ago.

It's in the attic of the garage at a property I own, but don't live at. I'll be out there sometime this week, and I'll get you a picture.

Thanks. I should have been more specific- I meant the catalog. Though a good pic of the cover would be interesting. Don't go through any trouble for it though, not that big a deal.

The more I look at this one, the more sure I am that it's a recent cast copy. It's pitted and has fresh grinding done on it, doesn't lay perfectly flat on my desk top. Gonna take a lot of work to look half as nice as my valve cover.

Actually, a few pictures of the catalog will be easier, as that's on one of my bookshelves at home.

A point of interest is that the 1956 Fenton catalog shows the style headers that are reproduced, but the 1959 catalog shows the other style with the cast in heat riser on the rear header.

All you have to do is drive a six with headers and no heat riser or manifold heat on a 10 below morning to figure out why the later ones came with a heat riser. It becomes a a contest of will and for***ude.
Those Fenton side covers are nice looking pieces. They probably didn't make all that many to begin with though.

I'm thinking that one was cast quite recently.

According to the price list, the side cover is $16.67. How many do you want?

Holy ****! I had no idea they made a 216 side cover as well!

So the catalog says. I've never seen one in the flesh. I have a Nicson side cover for a 216, and I've seen a Sharp.

For 216s, I have a Nicson, and an unbranded one that may be an 80's vintage from Tom Langdon.

For 235s, I have a new OTB Gear I polished up, a pre-Patrick's Wayne that I'll be selling to a buddy soon, and the aforementioned Fenton copy. Oh, and one that looks milled out of a thicker slab of aluminum (to make the fins), whose holes don't line up to those on the block. Got it with a group of parts.

I'll get a couple pictures of the side cover tomorrow night. I also have an Offenhauser side cover for 235/261 that I KNOW is a bootleg.

Sorry, didn't realize until I got home that the full length picture I took of the front of it came out a blurry mess.

Not gonna lie, I'm a bit jealous of how much nicer your original is than my copy.

Well, these days, I guess that you have to take what you can get when it comes to something like this. The one that I bought so long ago is the only one I ever had the opportunity to buy.

I don't know why it keeps flipping it upside down, but you get the idea.
