Ran across this at show in Vernal Utah Friday night. Currently owned by a 16 year old and has high school parking stickers! Dad thinks it was done in the mid eighties

Most of his stuff he only post Instagram. I should be at his shop this Friday. He's having an open house. I will have to see what's cooking in there and share it here.

I admire some Customs like @Moriarity has in his collection, clean and smooth. This one, and others like it, is just too "busy". It appears that every flat space has to have a scoop or something. Bulky comes to mind.
    Just an opinion.

That car is the Aztec 55 chev built by the Barris Bros. It is in my humble opinion the best 55 chevy ever..... aztec.jpg aztec2.jpg

I get what you are saying....

  21. I’m happy to report that Mr. Barry Mazza now owns and has since restored the Aztec to the configuration you see in the photo.

Skysix, you've got to remember when that car was built you got "show points" for every single modification so customizers made changes not to "improve" the looks of the vehicle but to win competitions, "Scoopie", the "Car of a hundred scoops" being an example.

Having said that, I've always been in love with the "half-roof", the rest, not so much.

PS., wouldn't it be fun to have a "photoshop" competition where we find out if anyone can improve on those great customs from the past ?
