Yeah he used to rave about the J2 but once the small block came out it was beat them or join them, he joined them. I also have his McCulloch Super charger. I have pics somewhere, I'll try and post it up. Still have a factory dual quad set up from Chevy from way back in the day. I looked all over the barn for that J2. Several flatheads that he had I had to send down the road, just couldn't keep it all. I'll keep posting when I find the pics and info.

  2. Thanks to everyone on this post that took the time to contribute their knowledge and memories of this old car club...... now when I look at the Sleepers jacket it will certainly bring new meaning to me after reading all your great comments. I still look forward to seeing if we get any more Hamb members adding to this post down the road....big thanks again to everyone!

I was happy to post back some stuff. I see the pictures are not showing up. I will try and host the online and load the links here. I did get a pic of the McCulloch Super charger the other day.

    Bob Wilsbach

I see how old this post is, but just wanted to let you know they were in the 50’s & 60’s. My dad Bob Wilsbach was one of the original members. That is actually his club jacket you have there. He was killed in a car accident in 2004. My sister and I were obviously very overcome with grief, and we rushed getting his estate completed so we could move on. I sold that jacket along with some other vintage drag racing items to a gentleman from Lancaster or Reading Pennsylvania. I wish I never sold the stuff, especially the jacket. But mistakes were made due to the stress and grief. My father and I were extremely close with the same interests. Hope that sheds some light on the jacket for you. I actually still have a Sleepers scrapbook and a handful of Sleepers member cards. Sorry for the long post! I just happened to do a search for the Sleepers due to a friends death and I saw your post!
    Thanks, Bob Wilsbach Jr

  8. Hello Bob....thanks so much for leaving this note and putting your fathers name to the jacket. I'll be very honest, it's always been one of my favorite jackets and it holds a special spot in my shop, so I see it every day. It must be going on close to 18+ years since acquiring the jacket from Mike Goyda who was the gentleman that you sold it to all those years ago. I will definitely attach a name tag to the jacket with your fathers name. My I ask, would you have a picture of your dad from back in those days of the Sleepers C.C. ? Great to hear you have held on to some of the Sleepers memorabilia. It be great to see those pictures. My sincere belated condolences on the passing of your father back in 2004....... God Speed Mr. Wilsbach.

  12. Wow ...

What I fully expected to read next was "Bob, YOU are the truly deserving 'caretaker' of this jacket. I will package it up and return it to you and your family as soon as humanly possible. I have very much enjoyed it for the past 18 years but couldn't possibly continue to display it, knowing how much it means to you".

Does the Hamb need to start a GoFundMe for this to happen? o_O

I would personally feel better looking up at an empty spot on the wall, remembering what was there and were it went than to look up at the jacket only to be constantly reminded that this truly belongs to someone else ... Hell, hang a full-size picture of the jacket on the wall and when someone asks about it, you'd have a fantastic story to tell.

    I guess I'm just wired a little different ... o_O

If this post doesn't meet Hamb standards ... please show me the door :)
