  3. It would look better on the wall and the truck would be rolling down the road looking much better! Hahah

  4. Maybe pulling one of Roth’s oddball asymmetrical builds would help it:)

  7. I don't mind asymmety but it needs to make some sense. The extra turn signal makes zero sense. The extra cut out in the front pan makes even less sense. None of of the cutouts should still be there if you are not running a bumper. The fact they couldn't be bothered to fit the hood properly probably speaks volumes about the quality of the rest of the work as well.

Hey! It's a Mercury. Maybe that's the stock grill in Canada.

  19. Well, I’ve alway dug em. I might not know who built it, but I dig em.
Last school year I had some Sr students asking about lowered cars. Like how did they come about……… so I just gave em a few suggestions where to look. Let them explore.
I have a Hispanic student. Great kid. He asked questions about a car we had on the board. (Gypsy Rose) It was from that Sr discussion. (He’s a Jr) so he started inquiring. This week I gave him a couple groups to check out custom rides. He didn’t know the huge contributions Hispanics have given (and continue) to the custom world. The past couple weeks I’ve enjoyed watching that young man take to sheet metal work. He’s a natural.
So, I’ve been looking at lots of customs with students the past year. I’ve got a 49 gmc that id like to go in a low rider direction. Basically restored body and interior, tail dragger stance. Spot and fog lights. Maybe a sunvisor. It started out as a street rod, then more trad looking. I don’t plan on using the M2 ifs I bought. I think I’ll keep the straight axle.
I’m trying to talk my wife into removing the emblems and nasty looking hood ornament from her 56.
I also have a 50 merc patiently waiting in the shop with 3 parts beaters to go with it.
Plus a couple goofy things rolling around in my brain. I helped build a bubble for a movie prop ride several years ago. I think I’d like to make another one someday. :):)

...This gives one a better perspective, no another I meant, on the symetry of this Custom, yes it's unbalanced but again only those who have done the walk can elaborate on why they did what they did...

I have seemingly not learned to just not question anything Custom or Hotrod just observe, like or not like and leave it at that...

...I once questioned three colored stripes on a large canvas at our national Art Gallery purchased for 1.8 mil with a group of Artist friends I was chatting with and was told the Artist had done the diverse walk in Art and the meaning is far beyond it's simplicity...I don't know...

It's even more complicated when Custom Minded folk are criticizing the movement they cherish...which like Art is hard to define literally...

I sometimes think it's just better to keep thoughts like the ones I made earlier on the Merc pickup private as whether a Hotrod or a Custom there are things done that either make or break my euphoria...

@Moriarity the Dream Rod is a fine example of non linear balance...they are truly Mobile Sculptures...so who am I to question what was presented complimenting a time in history...

There's just as many quirky Hotrods as there are Customs...I guess when I feel a good vibe I feel connected to where the Builder found their inspiration...

I used to think Hotrod/Custom folk couldn't share the same space without shit hitting the fan but it's a little more than that both are quite vocal within their own domains...

I guess this history of critique is more Traditional than we believe...

  22. Oh as far as custom work, I’m no virgin. Just most are/were OT rides.

I posted these 20220827_183340_resized[10234].jpg 20220827_180025_resized[10211].jpg and others in the low rider thread but now I wonder if they are customs. Feel free to delete if inappropriate.

...A Friend from New Jersey @57JoeFoMoPar's salute to the Yesteryear congrats on the recieving of an Art in Memory of a Club Member in his passing I am bad with names but I connected and shared with the moment, I am fond of the Big Buicks of the 50s...GMs roots in grace power and chrome...

And Then the balance of those roots...

The Olds...the wrap around to that oh so popular engine in Hotrod/Custom...

This Show was a heartfelt one...meeting you and the others and your Rides a Milestone for me...and a raw lengthy unforgettable Hotrod driving experience for me 4-5hrs of all types of road, scenery, towns in getting there...epic ride for me...your's I'm sure just as memorable...and the other extreme to many a Hotrod somewhat more flowing somewhat a cross between a DC3 and a Cigarette Boat...

I'll bet it was like sailing on land in many ways...The A Bone had plenty of power over all surfaces and took some pounding, some both tires wide... in stride...your around 8hrs south...I remember looking...did 8 there and back but would not do that without more rest next time...

I enjoyed taking pics of your Olds...I am one to spot imagery in shapes or reflection...

I asked about this cover on the continental kit...I often spot faces in cars but this time it was shapes of people...I took 2 shots from different angles and this was random untouched image and no one was standing there...A woman sitting...

    20220903_023542.jpg

Is this just a play on reflection from the 5th dimension...I think it's wild...

    0_20220827_112557.jpg

...I don't see it here and there was for sure a great deal of Spirit in the day...

Part of the same movement but more of balanced smooth and wearing quads with style...with utility pacified...still ready to haul...

I would lean this way in my build. I'm sure there's Art that precedes the 60s with both balanced and unbalanced styles...like Pablo and Dali would build cars that would be of different ideologies in the art of...
