Wow! According to the Wikipedia page those things are rare as hen's teeth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pak-Age-Car Of the circa 3,500 built, only about ten Pak-Age-Cars are thought still to exist. Six are Stutz-made ones and the remaining four Diamond Ts.
That thing is so ugly it’s beautiful!!!! I love it !!! What’s it got for drivetrain ? can you post pics of the inside ? What are your plans ? Super cool
That one is way cool, So freaking rare that I am afraid I would have to restore it to what it's original look was with lettering and all even though I am not a big fan of the lettered shop truck thing unless it actually relates to current or family history.
Thinking about and my youth, wish I had something like that to put a mc bike in with tools and parts. Lol. Would have been the talk of the towns.
I had a good friend that was a Diamond T nut & we did a lot of rummaging through 1940's ones in the junk yards (some time ago). There were a lot of variations of the basic trucks, depending on what they were needed for, but I've never even heard of one like yours. To say it's cool is an understatement. I'm curious to see pics of the dash & whether it has the same cast gauge panel as the other models. Is the motor a Continental? What a find!
Actually, there were several manufacturers that made similar vehicles. I think Divco made one early in their history.
LowKat out of Oregon actually had 2. Here's the link to the thread...https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/picked-up-a-stutz-actually-a-pair.525870/
That looks like a candidate for a Olds Toronado or Cad Eldorado engine/trans, unless you want to restore it.
Here's the story: I was scrolling through FB on Monday morning during my break when I saw the picture of the little van and I read that I was for sale in an affordable price, reading the comments there was a lot of interest on it from the group members. A couple of people asked for its location and a couple offered to pick it up ASAP. When the seller answered with the location, I googled it and it was 3hrs from Las Vegas so a trip was doable.. I sent the guy a message and then I posted on the ad that I had sent him a message,he never replied. I clicked on his profile picture and it showed his previous posts where he tried to sell the van but nobody answered because it didn't have pictures,he even posted his phone number so I called him up and left a voice mail, went back to work. He called me during work and I didn't hear my phone so I called him back when on lunch. He said I was the only one that made an effort to call. I told him I thought it would be gone by the time I called him so I just wanted to throw my name in the hat in case the other buyers backed out of the deal. He said it would be mine if I said I wanted it. I wanted it. I picked it up yesterday and the only thing missing is the hubcaps that he said the ly would be inside and they weren't. Gotta go back for them. This is 1 out of 4 diamond ts and the other 6 in existence are stutz. This is the only one that has barn doors in the back because the owner only the radio service ordered it thay way. I'm the 3rd owner. The guy gave me a bunch of brochures and a small picture of how the van looked after was handbpainted for the business. Has a 4 cyl continental engine I believe and you have to drive it standing up. It has a bicycle seat...and a lever for the clutch. It needs the whole floor and the p*** side unibody frame fixed before it folds like this My plan for right now is build a shade for it to keep it from the elements. And I have a 55 Caddy with a hydramatic..maybe add a subframe in a way that it can be restored in the future without modifying the stock front frame .
