Thanks @ClayMart! It's a mid '70's Gibson S-1. They were part of Gibson's attempt to break in to the lower end bolt on neck guitar market that Fender has always dominated but they were never popular and not a lot of them made. I added the Bigsby tailpiece for looks and painted it the same scheme as my Harley that's in the background that I painted a few years ago. It's a solid body and definitely has a unique sound compared to other guitars I've played.
Have had cable for 35+ yrs. Bruce's tune ( 57 Channels) has come true, 175 channels nothing to watch, pulling the cable! Music preference is Dick Dale, Ventures, Surfaries, etc. Old surf music. Doug
I was actually channel....um... "surfing" (LOL) one day and ran across it by accident. Didn't know it was even on there but when I heard some obscure songs, that I do have on vinyl and that I hadn't heard for years I was hooked. I agree, I love the extra interviews and such they toss in there. To me the Beach Boys have a unique way of moving us back in space and time to how I often wish the world could still be: sunshine, cool cars, cute girls, beaches and perfect harmony. My wife and I saw them in concert in 1981 and I still have the concert program and ticket stubs, as well as what might well be the first record I ever bought - the "Surfin' U.S.A." 45.
I've still got a soft spot for the Steve Miller Band's version of this song. But thanks for pointing me in a new direction to David Lindley. He's got more than a little bit of Sonny Landreth going on here!
Maybe cause I've lived on the lake my whole life. This was actually the go to song for my golden retriever that died last Christmastime. Best dog I ever had. Could swim a mile and keep going.
