...This was one sorry looking Chevy carcass at an old farm I visited but the Ole Stainless was miraculously almost as good as new and like you I often see other things within the shapes of things...I saw a profile of a speeding Train within this trim...

When I searched out the Locomotive I felt fit what I was seeing it so happened to be a period correct GM Product.

I wonder sometimes if the designers were thinking of such things as they shaped these automobiles and their components? I'd say yes as this was a time of the evolving Jet Age, Faster Aerodynamic Trains, Rockets and even Streamlining of the cars themselves...

...this was the subject...interesting it has a wire wheel on the rf...clic image for a better look...rust in peace...

Great Show as always Team Hamb...;)

@Sky Six I apologize for the loss of your post which itself was not Off Topic but my posting material referring to it did lead to a more antiquated direction which the Art Show is not...

I further apologize to the membership and moderators as well for the influx of material that was removed including my own.

    Regards

...Nikola Tesla was unquestionably a Genius and incredible Artist and dabbled in many things now a reality...that reality is off topic here but this illustration of his caught my eye as a swoopy car that easily could be a Beautiful Custom...So I took a respectful adventure in collaboration with him in Spirit and lowered it and modded it into a more stylish Tudor in both the outside and inside...I wished I could have shared this with him and had a chat about what I did and hopefully have his thoughts on the more Sporty model...

I suspect this was an Inspiration in a non generic brand he was trying to sell to Big Auto that never happened but it's truly amazing how much new is really just a revisiting of something that was done many many years ago...

The talk of late over what constitutes art is a little beyond me... I cannot define art, but know it when I see it. This image strikes me as art - neatly and simply done, and conveys a message.

    Cheers,

    Thanks @Harv...
Even without the placing of the image within the image the photo was artistic in its detail conveying many things that one could think of...the period train was but one...the discarded and forgotten once gleaming Car was another, how certain things regardless of climate continue to retain their original beauty is another... how like us they get old, deteriorate and turn to dust minus the elements like stainless, another and yes others don't see anything at all...I will continue to see these unique inspirations which truly are endless and share them if I feel an Artistic connection worth sharing...

I believe many of the Hotrod/Custom folk of the past saw the beauty in the details much as we do...some don't see beyond a 32 Ford Grill and shell, but many did as the Grill, the body lines, emblems, chrome and so many things work together making for the appreciation of what we are seeing even just on their own...it's truly more than the needle beyond its maximum...

Thank you and the others for seeing the depth to which we are visiting, if you don't, I try to point it out...

...many times stuff goes without notice as we are just walking by or seeing the rides just pass by at a show...but studying the static Vintage Hotrod/Customs and their bases of origin in a photo or at a show can really talk to you...

...This coupe in the Thumbnail was a well known Hotrodder/Racer Bob Ida's former Hotrod in his youth...I believe it was the early 60s, it truly has that unfinished nastiness that I dream of owning despite it being out of my reach...even just seeing it though is nearly as good as it hits the heart in a similar manner...

I either wondered myself or someone else mentioned wondering how it would have looked Carson topped and Duvalled in the windshield area...well I like it just as much as the Coupe...mixing the Hotrod with Custom many times just works to me so many times...mixing up the shoes and tossing in a 348/409 adds to the business as well...this must have been a rockcrusher in its heyday...where is it now?

Thanks for the incredibly kind words @Stogy :).

Me ? I'm the "Accidental Artist"

I was an "only child" until I was 14 when my sister was born. Not having siblings to play with growing up, my Mom needed something to keep me occupied (out of her hair)...she used drawing. "Oh that's a nice picture, draw me another one". After years of this, and thousands of drawings later, I eventualy figured out perspective and composition...and accidently, I had gotten real good at it. Being a car crazy kid (and growing up in So. Cal.), my subjects of choice were hot rods and dragsters. About 5th/6th grade I realized I had this skill that no one else had. I continued to develop various styles/skills through high school and college, not for the love of art, but because it was more like another tool in my "bag of skills".

I had stayed in conttact with my childhood buddy Chris M. He happened to know the art director at Street Rodder Mag back in the '70s. Chris convinced me to submit some of my stuff to them...and that's how I got involved with Street Rodder Magazinein the '70s - '90s.

Most kids draw and paint...Your Mom inadvertently started you on a career path that meandered into an interesting career of sorts and here we are today...you did some really cool stuff...;)
