I have had decent luck with a Pertronix distributor.

I honestly wish someone made a straight OEM, small cap replacement with no frills.

22 years ago I bought a new Petronix distributor from summit along with a second strike box. After 133,000 miles still no trouble. I did have to shim the end play in the distributor when I first got it.

I’ve had one in my Ford 460 for about 8 years and 40,000 miles with no problems. Fast startup, no lag.
Will be putting one in my Merc. Highly recommend.

went to a bike meet last night.met a guy ive known for 30 plus years with a beautiful 68 sportster all stock drum brakes and kick start.it was a beaut but i had a 77 sporty front disc and electric start.tradition isnt much good when uve had 7-8 beers and you are kicking away like hell the patrol car is slowly cruising up the road with the bag just waiting for all the fight to run out of u..and u need to be elsewhere .give me the 77 sporty every day tradition has its limitations

Look at Taylor Electronic Vertex mag style distributors.

  13. Many people have, and I'm yet to hear of a single good report. Plenty of the opposite though. Including here on the HAMB.

I have a buddy that has one of those fancy tubes. He has a $600 car he drives to avoid the tube.
