I've been around a while...not on here all day every day like I was at first...but man, I still love this place.
Nice work @Paul on your 20 years. I am a noob by comparison with 8 years in on a life sentence that I am currently serving. I don't regularly exercise "good behavior" as a rule so I likely will be serving the entire stretch here. On a positive note, I have am***ed over 25,000 "likes" mostly due to my dry, sarcastic, cynical, maniacal, twisted, wry, non PC, ***aholic comments that have made me famous, or perhaps rather infamous. You are a better man than I, Gunga Din! Here's to another 20! Cheers!
If you’ve got time to kill you can go to the bottom of the page of the main hamb forum and where you can click back a page or two, you can click back about twenty years! time machine that gives you an idea of how much data Ryan’s storing here edit https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forums/the-hokey-***-message-board.5/page-15254 should take you to page one 2003!
Something you’ll notice is 15,000 pages ago less was contained in one thread. Everyone gave project updates as a new thread and not an additional post on the first thread. Fewer members and the early days of forums.
been on for 16 years now. found community here, learned a tremendous amount and met most of my closest friends I met here. forever grateful to Ryan for creating this little corner of the world for us. side note, I wonder what the state of hotrodding would look like if the hamb didnt exist?
More than 10 years and enjoyed each hour in front of the screen. Learning alot, meeting people and really some in person, all same minded, but all are different. FAS with a cold one or two, fantastic. Moved to another country in between. So H.A.M.B. is like a friend joining my life. Let's keep on with that!
20 years and 3 months ago my brother called me and said, "Look up this site: It's about original REAL hot rods." I thought, 'Yeah, right. How would HE know about it? Tuned in and saw that he knew. He knew SOMEthing... On here a lot, have had 3 engines in my roadster and it still isn't together. Flathead, Olds, now Chrysler hemi. But I'm still here... HAMB bound.
June 3, 2002 for me...damn, I'm old. Thank you to the H.A.M.B. for a great and informative 20 years. It's evolved into a lot friendlier, less rude more politically correct place. For the most part it's been good, but I really did not appreciate being reported when I suggested a Ben-Wa ball would make a good shift knob.... Thanks again Ryan and the other mods. Keep up the great work!
yes, and to push the point like a sharp stick today i am officially a senior citizen 65 times around the sun.. crazy
Happy birthday Paul!!!! maybe @Ryan will double your moderator pay now that you are probably on a fixed income....
