Well; if it's not priced like a cotton farm in Georgia, I'd say snap it up. They sure aren't making new ones.

I don’t know the application but the letters SAF on the casting mean it was made by the Ford subsidiary in France.

The way it’s made, and assuming it mounts somewhat with the cap upright, is like a FH Ford that would be driven with a slot on the end of a camshaft.
FHs have the slot favoring one side, not suggesting it’s for a FH V8, but the last pic makes it look like the slot to go into would be offset as well.
The Fords do have a 3 bolt distributor on some too, maybe try to match up and compare?

Yes, it looks like Flathead angle drive..something early probably. I though I could use it with vertex magneto but it would seat very high probably..

If the price doesn’t hurt you, and even if you can’t use/modify it to work for you, it’ll be good to hang on the wall;)

What is throwing me is the three bolt mount and the use of the 8BA style dizzy. The 3 bolt mount was phased out in the early 40's with the advent of the 59AB series.

With Ford, anything is possible, so I hope someone here knows what this came off of.

  12. French you say? Perhaps it's related to their military flathead V8's in some application?

I believe the three bolt distributer went away after 1936....

The two bolt cover and distributors were introduced in 1942.

Distributor is suited with vacum advance. I don't think that's industrial.
@Asphalt Demon do You have any photos of those engines?
