Not to hijack this but I've got an original 6 volt sending unit out of a '54 Ranch Wagon. Its untested but looks to be in good shape. The tank it came out of doesn't have any rust just some varnish. Both are free to anyone who can use them. Shipping for the sender is easy but the tank not so much. I'm in SoCal - Redlands. PM if interested. Going to a Model A swap meet on Saturday to try to sell them as well.

jeff have you put in the 1955 ford tank? did you use the car? tf-31-c for the car and a tf-31-a for the t bird. did you like the fit better than the stock? it has dual exhaust. bought a ebay one a while back. the silver paint is cheap emanal. cant touch it with any cleaner. and the neck is so short the rubber seal is against the cap .they say the tanks units are powder coated. does the 55 neck lock alright behind the plate? thank you ken.

    Ken,
This is the tank I used.......

I extended the straps by splicing together the straps that came with the tank and my original '54 straps.

I'm running FI so I needed both holes but the Bob Drake tank comes with a cover plate for one if you're not using an intank pump.
The filler neck was a bit long so I took an inch out. Now it's perfectly centered behind the license plate.

Fits like a glove. Nice and tight!
