You might make a separate thread about the trans spitting fluid as well. It maybe those that know of the issue aren’t following along here:)

that’s awesome. Glad she’s running good. How did the trans do? I didn’t comment but I agreed with the others. Let it puke out what she doesn’t want and if it stops then leave it.

We did exactly what was recommended. Pretty sure we have been over-filling it. Worked great today and no puking that I know of.

awesome glad to here. I did add a magnet to my pan. Because I don’t know the history of the trans. Maybe has steel clutches? Just a thought. I saw you asked about the part number on the pan gasket. Figured y’all was about to drop pan and inspect.

Yep, picked up the gasket yesterday but didn’t get to it yet trying to prepare to host 150 cars today driving a little over 100 miles on the Oklahoma two lanes. Maybe we can get it apart this week to check it out and change the fluid.

  6. Glad you got it sorted!

Yesterday was a sad day for pinky. Silas drove it to church and then went to a restaurant after for lunch. While he was waiting for a buddy to show up, he watched a guy back into the left rear quarter with his late model full-size pickup. If it would have been anything but a pickup with a steal bumper, there likely wouldn’t have been any damage. But, the bumper lined up perfect with pinky’s taillight. Anyway, the damage isn’t terrible, but not the best timing either right before we are headed to the Gathering at the Roc Friday. Hopefully the guys insurance will be fair paying us to fix it. When Silas called me right after it happened, I was hoping it was the right quarter that already needs work. I guess we now get to fix both... Anyway, I suppose this is all part of the fun when using cars for what they are meant for.

I didn't want to press the "like" button because I really don't like what happened. I did want to acknowledge that it was too bad that the car was hit. I hope you can get it fixed soon.

That really sucks. I ran across a guy that had some trim for a 59. I’ll do some digging and find his number.

  12. I was out with my OT Mustang and almost got creamed by a truck that cut the corner too sharp, be careful out there.

Yea, I sort of feel bad for the guy that backed into pinky as well. He is older and I’m sure his insurance isn’t going to be happy about having to pay anything.

  14. Bummer! Hopefully insurance will cover more than that.

That’s a pisser. The last two times I’ve had similar mishaps happen, I just uploaded pics to the insurance company and they cut a check. Never had to make an appointment, etc. hopefully it’s as easy for him as well.

  16. I hit the like button because I feel sorry for Silas and Pinky, not because I liked what happened.

We really need an "Aww, man, what a bummer!" button.
I can only imagine the sick feeling in the pit of Silas' stomach when he saw that. I hope y'all have a good time at Woolaroc.

If they sit in the garage nothing ever happens to them, but it still hurts.
Sorry that it happened and adds something else to the to do list

    Gah.

you know if only you’d picked a large car and painted it a noticeable color this may have not happened - face palm

That's a bummer. On the bright side, I have seen some of the things you've fixed so I am sure it will look better then before.

I had missed this great thread. Gonna go back and read all. I almost bought a 59 Edsel a couple of years ago. I like ‘em.

    Ouch!

At least it sounds like the driver had insurance, and Silas was parked. Usually the first one of those is the young driver's fault. Do I remember reading somewhere, on some thread, that you have body skills?

Not sure about skills...but I was a paint and body guy from the time I was 12 until I got out of college and my wife made me get a real job... :D I still do some paint and bodywork as needed.

This one is nicer than the one that got damaged and was pretty reasonable as well.

Headed to the Gathering at the Roc in Bartlesville, OK. We don’t do many shows, but this is about the best one we do as far quality of cars that show up. Pinky isn’t technically entered. Silas’s 63 C10 is what is entered and was accepted. Only problem with that is that we didn’t make any progress on it since life got in the way. So, we are taking pinky and will just park in spectator parking if needed. Last year, I entered my 56 and Silas also drove pinky. Pinky is in much better shape this year both mechanically and in the kool department. :D

Nice, enjoy the show and hope she runs good. Sounds like most of the bugs are worked out
