No he can’t get rid of the Predator, it is just too cool. That would be a bad decision.

The original triple stripe white walls that were over 50 years old and cracked and hard as a rock with large flat spots made the car difficult to drive. I had this new set of Coker BF Goodrich silvertowns here and went ahead and put them on, even though I think it would be better with skinny whites these look pretty good on there. And now it drives as smooth as a gravy sandwich FD118852-1B4C-466B-8804-DA1BBABBE79F.jpeg 3C374A78-B91B-465C-A850-9FA92F9C182D.jpeg E586268F-84B5-470C-B6A9-B175EFD37DD4.jpeg E13AF68E-A8A7-4EDC-AECA-96D029F2857D.jpeg

Nothing wrong with that look at all. I like wide whites better than the tri whites. It doesn't mean anything you know my taste.. Does Diamond back make them?

diamondback only makes radials. I will not have an old car with radial tires if I can help it. As our fearless leader Ryan once said "every traditional car deserves to have bias ply tires"

It is a historic car built in the mid sixties. No I did not do it but it was customized that way back then

  9. newbie , I'm sure didn't read the whole thread regarding the car's history..

I personally think it looks better. What a great addition to your fleet.
Can you make a gravy sandwich on a hot plate?

The wide whites look good and do the job, bet you're happy!

The most impressive part of the car is interior. Has the upholstery material lost any elasticity? In particular the dash and sunvisors? Is the seat padding still in good condition? Any other plans for the future?

The front seats need new foam. It is completely disintegrated and falling on the floor in powder form. It has 58-60 tbird seats and there are repop seat buns available. I am going to buy some and remove the seat covers and replace them

I think that was a good call on replacing the 40 year old tires. Would have been a shame for one to blow out and mess up the bodywork.

I had a car in the shop one time that had a set of perfect looking 40+ year old bias ply’s on the front. One blew when I was rolling it out of the shop by hand, luckily I had the front fenders off. No damage other than a slightly soiled pair of underwear!

  16. Yup, I do like this car. Extra points for just having an extra set of wide whites! I saw a photo of triple stripe pie crusts while looking up Hurst Cheater slicks. Only the 2nd version I've seen. I am a Wide White fan but, I quite like the triple stripe. This car looks good in either version.

Awesome addition Mark! Those BFG's are good tires. I put goodyear supercusion's on the ranch and didn't have to balance them they're made so nice.

  18. The orange paint job is really nice!

Probably the best looking custom '55 I've ever seen. Partial to the original (??) green but orange is fine

  20. the new buns will make a world of difference. Did that when we stuck the 60 t bird seats in Taboo. Surprised the foam lasted this long in that car with it being a convertible.

  21. Saw this while going through some of my Taboo stuff. Hing had the car in the 61 Portland Roadster show.

I also found evidence of the upholstery being dyed blue at one time...

  27. Maybe it was painted blue after the tail lights were added, but before the nose work was done and then the car was painted the emerald green after the nose was done on the car because looking at the pic in the program the front still has the stock fender extension trim on it which it not longer has on it.

This would be my guess too. Would explain why the picture used in the program is from the rear, since at that point it was much more custom from a 3/4 rear view than a front view. One of the magazine articles also talked about how the guy was constantly making changes to it, could be a reference to the multiple versions and colors that it was, leading up to that point.
