Made it to Bartlesville! Gotta rinse her off before the reliability run this morning.

One of our favorite things to do...drive the two lanes with a bunch of cool cars! Silas is also covering the event with lots of pics. So we pull off every now and then to get all the cars going by.

Quick turn of events. :( Fixing to leave the ER after Silas’s shoulder popped out of socket and he was in so much pain he couldn’t move. He had shoulder surgery back in June and they put in anchors and rebuilt his labrum. He was turning pinky in a parking space and it popped out and he couldn’t move because of the excruciating pain. Ambulance took him to the ER because he couldn’t even ride in the car. They drugged him up and popped it back in...twice after it fell back out. Not how we envisioned this weekend. Prayers appreciated. I have never seen him in this kind of pain.

Such a bummer that at Silas's age, he has to deal with this serious situation. Hope the Doctors and his physical theripest, will get him back together quickly!

  8. Thanks for the explanation. I replied to his IG post but didn't know what had happened. Hoping for a quick recovery!

  9. My right one will come out of the socket since I have a 360 degree gleno-humeral tear from a body surfing mishap. It got better with lots of PT, I have to be careful working with my arm extended. I'm lucky that the ER is 5 minutes down the road.

Prayers buddy. I know that sucks, my buddy Dave had that when we were teenagers. His shoulder would pop out with the slightest effort and he would be in excruciating pain. Terrible to watch. Feel helpless.

Me neither just can't pick good from it except that both sides are getting fixed . Think we all should consider Your To Close Alarms at least the car would have a chance we could hookup a camera to the horn thru a module . Sounds crazy but logical all parking lots are a mess nowadays

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers everyone! We made it back home from the Gathering at the Roc late last night after cutting the trip just a little shorter than planned because of the pain in his shoulder. I drove us around the remainder of the time there then home last night. Pinky did good, but she may be getting power steering in the future now. I have the complete power steering setup that came with the ‘57 312 off the wagon it came out of. Wasn’t planning on putting power steering on this car, but seems like a better plan that having it push Silas’s shoulder out of joint because it is hard to steer. One last pic from the weekend of a few of the buffalos in Woolaroc where the show is held on our way out yesterday.

Nothing wrong with adding power steering. It made my Lincoln much more easier to drive, was a two handed job, now it only takes two fingers. I have arthritis in my shoulders, so the decreased effort really makes it more fun to drive without hurting the next day.

  22. Sorry to hear the trip was cut short. Prayers for Silas to heal quickly. Thanks for sharing Silas' adventures with Pinky.

  23. I'm going with PS in my car, it steers fine until I have to park somewhere tight. With my bad chiropractic experience last year, I could scarcely drive my OT Mustang for about 5 months last year.

Ugh, tough deal about your boy's shoulder. That's a bad injury and I hope he's feeling better soon.

If I had to go back and put power steering in the 57-59 Ford chassis, I'd use the Borgeson power gear with a basic Saginaw pump, and just divorce the steering column with a column saver and rag joint. I've never seen one of the Ford slave cylinders that doesn't eventually leak, and it just seems like such a clunky set up.

  25. Glad y'all made it home safe! Good to see ya, even if it was short. Hoping the shoulder evens itself out and with some therapy will strengthen up and not need another surgery.

Couple updates...Silas went to the surgeon that did the surgery back in June today to assess the damage to his shoulder. Sounds like he tore the labrum again and will likely have to go through another surgery. :( He is now scheduled for an upcoming MRI to further assess.

Also, we went and looked at a 58 Edsel Villager wagon today that seemed like a decent deal. One word...junk...comes to mind. So, we decided one Edsel is enough for now.

Since we were in El Reno, Oklahoma on Route 66, we decided to stop in at one of the landmark fried onion burger joints. Even though we didn’t like the wagon, we had a good 120 mile or so drive in pinky tonight and some great onion burgers. Also, enjoyed the father and son time.

Was it the one in El Reno?

Yep...I suppose junk might be a strong word, so maybe just overpriced for the condition is a better description. We just don’t need another major project.
