Here's my untouched 50 barn find. A little work got her starting, running, driving and stopping in a few days. She's not shiny but she's mine.
This popped up on CL. When we were kids, there was a used car lot on South Broadway that dealt in classics and hot rods. This is the owners car for sale. 1951 Mercury Coupe. Very good condition. Chopped top (done by Dick Dean in Los Angeles). Custom interior. Runs and drives great. About 50,000 miles on it. I've owned it since 1977, always garaged since then. Just needs some skirts and appletons. And caddy wheel covers.
Nope, it was "Oldies But Goodies". The guy selling the Merc is the old owner of the lot. He is selling all of his collection. Hope it's just to downsize and not due to an illness or something. E
His Model A just showed up today. I bought my first car from him in 1994. We used to park there after hours and wish. That merc was there a few times. I was thinking the same thing. Prayers for sure.
His Model A has been on Craigslist a few times already. He has also listed his mid-60s Chevy pickup, as well as his Plymouth Suburban and the Merc. I guess since he's getting older he decided it's time to make a move. Again, I hope it's a downsize and not a life strain situation. I miss the days of going over to his lot and walking around dreamin'..........E
