Killer '41 Lincoln Zephyr. Any further info?

 

Continuing with prewar Zephyrs, can anyone provide info on this - looks like a coupster?

Ahh yes, Craig Whites Bob Hoffman/Russ Meeks custom. Featured in CKD magazine a few years ago.

 

Friend's 53 been on jack stands for 35 years finally back on the ground with some whitewalls, just got some sombrero caps for it. Better photos soon as he pulls it out of the shop.

It was built by Jerry Vandenberg in Lake Havasu City, AZ. If I remember correctly he called it the Merlick. He started with a 47 or 48 Mercury coupe or convertible, added the Lincoln front end and a chopped 40 Buick windshield and working convertible top. I think he also used a Nash hood to fab the decklid.

So MER for Mercury, LI for Lincoln and CK for Buick = MERLICK.

 

THANKS! Really appreciate the info, Bullet Nose. After your explanation, I can see the mods. The Lincoln front end is from a 40/41 Continental (thinner hood). I first thought he had sectioned the Zephyr body, but that would have raised the rear fenders, but they appear to be in the stock position. I have a 41 Zephyr coupe plan I on modifying like the black one.

This is lovely, but what is the original car? Mid-50's Buick?

 

Looks like '50-'54 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. I agree, it's NICE. Love the hooded tail light treatment.
