This gold RPU brought back a long lost memory….
Around ’68-‘70 I had a fully chromed 6x2 intake with six chrome 97s for a SBC, but no linkage or fuel lines. I have no idea how I got it or why, since I was an Olds/hydro guy. I may have been thinking of using the carbs on my Olds but my Dad said my 2x4 was better. So anyway, I put out the word that I wanted to sell it and got a phone call from a high school buddy named Bill Wallace. I always liked Bill but I really didn’t think he was a car guy, so I discouraged him, but he wanted to come see it. He showed up in a gold metalflake ’29 RPU with a thumpin small block Chevy, Halibrands, slicks, just awesome!! Where had he been hiding this thing? Chrome everywhere, black tuck n roll. You needed sunglasses to look at it! I just had to go for a ride. We went to the local Weinerschnitzel and got hot dogs and cokes. Long story short, he bought the intake (against my better judgment) for $40 and sure enough he had it on there and running within a few days. It looked great and seemed to be running fine. Apparently, he was a car guy after all.
Oh the memories this place brings back….

Why does Herman Munster's Hot Rod have a yellow door on the rear sides of the car ???

  28. Cuz George Barris made it that way. He had some kind of an 'in' with Hollywood that I'll never understand.

  30. ED Kowalski is in the dark clothing in the back row. Ed is gone, but his son E.J. has a hot rod shop, Kowalski Kustoms, in Reading, Pennsylvania, as well as a few dragsters and Bonneville cars that he holds records with. E.J. is very talented and was Bruce Larson's last crew chief before Bruce sold his latest funny cars. E.J. also gets flown in to work with the Pure Hell fuel altered team. E.J. is also very involved with nostalgia racing flathead and banger engine cars. He also puts on the dirt drags at Allentown Pennsylvania fairgrounds twice a year. He keeps quite busy.
