I had one in bare steel for about 3 days one time. It was ugly and needed a lot of help. Then the flash rust showed up. I did have pictures, lost them in a computer crash.

It looked much better with filler and paint.

Naked and bare steel lasts about 15 minutes around here. I've spent too many years fixing rotted metal, bare steel cars give me nervous reactions. They look great for a few minutes, then I feel the need to protect them.

Here is some more bare metal stuffs.
Roadster pickup we did a few years back.
'60 T-bird that we finally get to finish. It's at upholstery right now.
A couple of the Gauntt Coupe.
A '28-'29 that is called "God's rod" it lives out somewhere in the world in bare metal.
A sectioned '32 roadster we did that is currently at paint.
And, a '33-'34 that is still a current project.

About Gibb's penetrant, if I wipe Gibb's all over my latest car, (bare steel, OT), so I can de-bug it and shake it down for a few months, will my paint guy be able to get it back out of the metal?

I guess it's my age but I see a bunch of work lol..

It's interesting what young folks find cool today we used to be embarrassed to be seen in.. I remember changing out of my work clothes into something clean and presentable just to run down to the auto parts store in the middle of a job. lol..

Jimmy Shine did this pedal car for a charity auction. Sold for $1500. The other car is signed by Pete and Alex and went for $2000.

Mine, earlier in 2022, just before teardown. Now painted and reassembly about to commence.
