Nice story the pickup looks nice and solid
If the engine is seized, pour a mix of kerosene and ATF in the cylinders, let it sit for a week, works great.

Just wait until you go to the auto parts store and ask for parts for a 305 v6!
My Buddy has a 62 GMC Suburban with that motor and just about has to take the counter person out to see for themselves.

No doubt! The guys at the local parts store already don't know what to think of me. I have learned to look my stuff up online the majority of the time especially after no one can find "Edsel" as a manufacturer... They do also pretty much let me look up my own parts when needed and there are actually a couple young guys that at least appreciate the old stuff.

  9. Jeff, that GMC is the cat’s ***!! I love it, great score. You find the best stuff!

The Studebaker looks like the perfect candidate for a Lemons Rally car. The "American Dream" machine, via South Bend!

Awesome score man! I absolutely love the "nostril" hood on these. I don't even think they're ugly, just cool. I also love the long bed fleet side as well. Long and low is the name of the game always.

And FWIW, I'd be on my way back with an empty trailer for that Lark. If it's basically s**** value, what the hell right? Twist my arm. And it has a SBC in it. Even though, you know you don't want to be like everyone else with a 4 door Studebaker...

Yea, I keep debating on the Lark. He said $400 would buy it and that seems cheap enough. I had been trying to talk myself out of it, but also suspect they may s**** it if I don’t buy it. :( I do like the idea of making it run and drive and doing something like the Lemons Rally or even just a HAMB do***ented run or something.

If it isn't a long haul to go get it, and you've got the money, it's worth it for sure. Even if you just pull the motor and transmission and then s**** the rest!

While I was in the shop for a few minutes last night, I grabbed some rubbing compound and brought a small section of paint to a shine with a rag. I think it can look pretty decent for a worn out old truck.

At least perfect for what I need in a pickup. :D I have had perfect pickups and they aren’t very useful.

That's an amazing find! The GMC was a little different than the Chevy. It's the little differences that make it cool. The '63 Chevy I had was extremely rusty, straight 6 with little power. I used to say ' she may be slow, but sure is ugly!

Yea, there was a time when I was younger that I wouldn't even consider a long bed. I had multiple old C10's and they were all short beds. Long beds were for parts. However, after having my 66 and getting it sitting right (at least in my opinion), I have decided that I actually prefer a long bed now. :D

In my eye, best looking trucks to be lowered are the 60-66? Or so LWB Chevy/GMC fleetsides.

My stepdad had a similar one, a '62 3/4 ton 4x4. Those old V6s ran sweet, in that one, touch the key and it started, let it warm up for 5 min, put it in 2nd and let the clutch out and it would drive away with no throttle, let it get rolling and put it in 3rd with no throttle, just chugged away, all torque. He put a round 275 gallon fuel tank in it and fueled the dozers for years with it. I think you find a little basic cleanup will have it purring in no time. There were several of those beasties, 351s up to a 478 version, and of course the double-V12s. We used to run with a guy who had a GMC 10-whl dump with the 478, and it ran right along with the 549 Binders and Ford 534s- sounded a little strange, but lotsa torque, and nearly indestructable

Thanks for more information on the V6 @MeanGene427! From some of what I was hearing, I was questioning whether I should start planning on a SBC replacement. You helped me with more confidence in the V6 especially for my use for the truck. :D

Please go buy that Lark with the quickness.

If my wife catches me looking at the pictures of it again I don't know what will happen.

Oh, and your truck is awesomely imperfect!

The torsion bar models ride the nicest. I worked for a guy that had a V6 GMC and it was a monster trailer puller torque machine. We pulled 28' goosenecks with it on the hay crews. It loved a gas station though.
