Hot Rods Cool Hot Rod License Plate Frames

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by tim troutman, Dec 28, 2018.

  1. Tennessee tags were the shape of the state from 36-56, so there are few remaining original dealer or advertising tag surrounds, and those are VERY expensive or hoarded in collections. Really rare are any that would fit 36-37, as those tags are bigger and have a little bump up in the top border.

Not vintage, but a guy in TN makes these unique examples. Also sold on that auction site.

These frames are made by Haneline..the company that made those engine turned inserts for Stewart Warner gauge panels..they're NOS and probably 60+ years old..

I use the U.S. Pioneer license plate frames on everything. My father had one that he had kept from the 50's and I began looking for them around thirty years ago and I've got a few of them now. I'm currently looking for the 14" ones that I can use on the old Missouri plates.

    Hello,

So Cal is home to a ton of Ford pickup trucks. They are all over the place and have made a following of enthusiasts and builders as a cool pickup. As we have been reading for the past zillion years, Ford has made strides as being labeled as the #1 best selling truck in the USA for a long time.

We were out looking for a fence company for some parts and possible future installation plan. So, just off of the busy I-5 Freeway, a cool looking red, Ford pickup truck was sitting by the side of the road. For a non-owner, the trucks kind of look alike, but sometimes, the color just makes it stand out.

Should be lot of licence frames available in Penneylvania. PennDOT new law says NO part of a plate can be covered.

  25. That dealer is still around, still has the old sign out front. Pass by it when I'm cruising past the circle........damn Chapman took the town over.

I've found a few old dealer frame in cars I've had over the years, I've kept a few.

    Hello,

This Red Ford pickup was located on one of the busiest side streets running parallel to the busy I-5 freeway in South OC. It is hard to decide if the owners were in one of three popular fast food places. The famous A’s Burgers, Carl’s Jr. and the famous first South OC, In and Out Burger location. They are all located right in a row on this parallel side street to the freeway.

I suppose anyone could get their burger fix taken care of at any of the locations in this short football field length walk or drive. So, it was interesting that this Ford truck was parked within the distance.

In and Out is just beyond the hotel. With the parking lanes always packed at all hours of the day/night.

If seen from far away, it would be hard pressed to identify this red Ford truck as to the exact year. But the license plate gives no options as to the identity.

Well, at least, A’s Burgers and In/Out are still going strong, since recently Carls Jr. closed. But, as for the Red Ford pickup…your guess is as good as mine… parking spots are scarce and this fast food corridor is one busy place.

This is on my Olds. Yeah, it gets a lot of golf course duty as it has the largest trunk.

This is on my trailer (if you are a local, that is a Mike Thelin original from way back.)

and I modified my roadster's frame since most of the parts came from our classifieds.
