I wish i also could run without a front tag, these cars looks so much better without.

Yea, I thought they’d be numbered or I could tell easily where they went. I was wrong, oh so wrong. The middle one was the only one that was easy. And to make matters worse the bumper and teeth had suffered some abuse through the years.

I like the Buick! I know what you mean about beginning to admire old cars like these that we would have paid no attention to when younger.

80 degrees in November equals good day to drive Buick to work. :p Even got passed by a nice 58 Impala on the way home.

Just got back from a business trip to Calgary, Alberta so didn’t get to mess with the Buick all week. But, my brother will be here this week from Michigan and he is a Buick guy, so I will be doing a few things to it and driving it a lot this week.

His Buick’s are way nicer than mine, but I also have less invested. He has Flat Top Bob’s 61 Invicta and a real slick 64 Riviera.

Those Rivieras looks so nice, perfect stance on that one.

  7. I will call the '63 to '65 Riv as the best looking car of all time.

Spent a couple hours working on the car this evening and got the window swapped out as well as put the piece of trim on I was missing between the two passenger doors. Thanks to Flat Top Bob for fixing me up with those parts! The glass has a little bit of delamination, but it actually matches the rest of the glass pretty well.

  11. My 56 was missing that piece as well. Hard to find since they generally don’t reproduce 4 door parts!

Yea, I was glad that Bob had it!

Oh, I also decided to pull the side mirror off the drivers door since I couldn’t see anything out of it anyway. It always looked kind of silly to me being rectangular on a round car... :D

Here is what it did look like for reference.

Not to hijack a thread, but I just picked this thing up. Needs some work, but it's one of my favorite cars.

Very nice! Congrats! My brothers white one is in the Detroit area. I still kick myself for not getting one I could have had free about 15 years ago. It was rough but had factory two fours...

Thanks! I got it from Bring a Trailer of all things. It's been sitting for a long time, but the previous owner replaced the fuel tank/pump and all the brake hardware, so at least I have a head start.

  16. I passed one up locally a few years ago. It was rusty and the interior was badly baked. There are a couple of nice ones around, both are black and laser straight.

Because I was driving around town blow drying since I could wash it after fixing the window. :D

Just curious on the chrome? It does look awesome. You said you’ve tried different things. Did you ever try the old foil and water?

No, I sure didn’t. I tried Nevr-Dull, some other polish that I don’t remember what it was, and the 3M compound.

Try the foil some time. Just take a piece and ball it up, dip it in water and run your chrome , not on stainless trim of coarse. Just steel chrome.

While you're detailing stuff, slime a coat of vaseline on top of that horn button center plastic and leave it on there for a couple weeks, then wipe it off. You'll be shocked how much of that crazing in the plastic goes away.

I have never heard this before but will sure be trying it. I have been looking at all the things that need cleaned up in the interior. I haven’t even started on it yet, but it needs a lot. The previous owner let his grandkids play in the car and they were pretty hard on things like the headliner.

Thanks for the tip! I will report back.

Running errands today on the way to Thanksgiving dinner with family. It sure looks better with 300 lbs of feed in the trunk. I need to get it lowered.
