So… while splitting some firewood two weekends ago I noticed that the set of 66 Mustang fenders I have rotting away behind the barn had fallen away from the wall and ended up laying upside down. For some reason I had a vision… lol Well, in the last two weeks I found a rolling chassis of a 30’s Willys only a half hour from my house and incredibly cheap. I’m so looking forward to building something with no rules. I’m so tired of the whole expensive traditional parts you need now to put anything together. I’m tired of restorations, perfect bodywork, and expensive paint jobs. I’m going to make my hobby fun again! Hopefully! 5A5DC9B2-F986-446C-BDF0-02EF4CBE26E9.jpeg BA816291-3B7A-4A29-AC83-6652439D38F7.jpeg 9A47C01B-9850-4325-92EA-3CC8D74E1D45.jpeg

  4. Good for you. That sounds 'traditional'. Maybe not HAMB traditional, but more like they did it before it became 1-800 kool.

The pics above are all from the last week playing around after work. Today was my kind of Black Friday… picked up a Mack hood with louvered sides with these cool stainless trim pieces, a Chevy hood for the start of the boat tail, and my favorite piece so far… a 20’s Cadillac grill and rad still sporting the caddy symbol! I started with building around the fenders but now I’m pretty much building around this caddy grill. It’s such a cool and different looking grill… perfect for this build. I’m thinking of going with a caddy inspired build. Like a Speedster/ RaceCar from the 20’s that Cadillac might have built. Not saying my skills are up to that… but I can dream. And of corse I had to get some clamps out and mock up the new parts before it got dark. Keep in mind… nothing is cut to size yet this is just sitting there. But you get the idea. Last pic is me drawing on my phone. I have a lot of slicing and dicing ahead of me but I’m liking how she’s coming out already. Time to pick up some cutting blades for the grinder… like a lot of them. 44E17260-5C80-4BEF-A0BA-2C90D4FFA45D.jpeg

I should have said "you may have started something", I can see all kinds of fender possibilities being tried, photoshop will be busy for a while.

OH Man this is fun. I've been doing pretty much the same with my boat tail project that I need to get up to a running driving stage. Everything in it is either left over pieces that I had, donated to the cause pieces from friends including the engine from Rob-redm. outside of the frame and transmission I everything has been dug out of my own piles, donated or scrounged.

But. it's got the right amount of traditional rust! Just saying. ;) Edit: You're going to need a manual fuel pressure pump on the driver's side cowl, and one of those Barney Oldfield caps, and goggles, and a racoon tail on the windshield post, and...............
