There's lots of room in front of the engine, no worries there. If anything I will run an electric fan, but I doubt I will need to.

I might run an electric fan regardless, just or the efficiency.

You want the carb mounting surface on the intake level when the car is sitting on it's tires it is going to run with all the weight on the tires. If you check the difference between the arb mount surface and the top edge of the valve cover that is the angle you want your crankshaft centerline to be sitting at.

I've very seldom seen a rig with an engine/trans swap that you didn't have to modify the hump/trans cover a bit for clearance. The only reason the turbo 400 cleared in my 40 was because the engine was sitting so freaking low in the subframed chassis. It was sitting real low in the engine compartment.

Ah.....ok the 4.5 degrees is from the top edge of the head. It's on jackstands on all 4 corners, and the front axle is out of the car right now. I wanted to make sure my engine/trans placement is good before I split the bones, since the new spot for them is on the trans plate.

Do we take it that the car on jackstands is sitting with the chassis at an inclination at, or very close to, the intended ride position? If not the measured 4.5 degrees could go up or down depending on how its currently set; going down some would be fine, but going up some is not good territory.

I dropped my car on the ground when we were making up the mounts.

You might find that you'll need an electric fan simply because the mechanical fan doesn't center on the radiator. That was my issue with my '39 Chev coupe and the 350 SBC. I did the short water pump to ensure things would clear, and ended up putting a 1" spacer between fan and water pump to get back to close enough. But my fan aligns with the bottom half of the tall radiators these old cars have, and that was an issue in the summer when sitting in traffic.
I left the mechanical fan, and added a pusher electric in front, along with a T stat set at 185 degrees to bring it on if things got warmer. It rarely runs the electric fan, but when it does it keeps the engine temp at 185, and lets it idle all day long on hot days without any issues.

It's a little higher in the rear, which I'm planning for a bit of rake so it should be pretty close to how it will sit on tires.
