Beautiful car, Always loved the rear deck of the 60 Pontiac 2 door. I've had a 60 Coupe Deville for 25 years now and never get sick of looking at the length and lines of the big GM's. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Your red post car looks killer!! White top and white steels with the stock caps. I'm in love.

US Pontiacs were only available with a 389ci V8 in 1960. Canadian Pontiacs were a whole different animal, they used Chevrolet chassis and drivetrain. You could get them with a 261ci six, 283ci V8 or a 348ci V8.

True that, not many V-8s up here. I recall a neighbor had an OT '68 Gran Prix (parisienne) with a 396, Buckets, console, special order. The only Pontiac I ever lusted over.

I thought that too, so I went and looked up parts on a couple websites and they show parts for the 6 cylinder under Star Chief. Who knows.

In 2010, i bought these Chevy pans on spec of doing this project one day. i’ll admit, that i’ve never struck an arc with a welder, ever before, so this’ll be one heck of a learning experience.

It’s an “Only Top”; the only top available. The only true “bubble” was 1962 Chevrolet Bel Airs. One year only.

It looks like the Laurentian didn't have the same "Wide Track" as the U.S. spec Catalina or Bonneville.

Good Luck with your project. In my younger days I had a 61 Laurentian two door hdtp with a 261, 3 speed. The Parisienne is rare, and the Laurentian is even rarer. Are you familiar with the Canadian Poncho forum and Facebook page? Several guys on there from Manitoba, and lots of knowledge on the Canadian Pontiacs.

Practice your welding on any clean sheet metal you can find. Practice, practice, practice. The rusty metal in the car will be tricky to weld, try to wire wheel or sand it to clean metal if you can. There are probably dozens of YouTube videos that may be helpful. Good luck!

floor pans are the best place to learn sheet metal welding. as stated, plenty of videos out ther to get you started.

The fuel tank is out, and i’d say, “she’s had the course”. i purchased a stainless replacement. This car has definitely been in the rhubarb a time, or two, in the past!

I way more of a Ford guy but those late ‘50s and early ‘60s GMs have a different kind of style which I like. As for “going into the rhubarb” my aunt from Airdrie used that a lot and I do now as well...prairie thing? The first time I saw my 5’2” girlfriend/wife drive she was piloting her mom’s Parisienne convertible boat. She looked so tiny in that car! If you know of Cold War Motors on YouTube one of the “agents” picked up a red four door Pontiac and drove it home to Edmonton is late August/early September so you might find some inspiration there. Always thought those French names were tres cool though I may be biased having a ‘56 Meteor Rideau Victoria... Bon Chance!

I remember 60 Pontiac Tri-Power cars as both cool & fast. Didn't know about 6 cyl. versions. Very neat thread.........
