I think I'm done with the HAMB. It looks like my build tread for the flatbed truck was edited to remove most of the pics that show the wheels. That thread was on the HAMB for 15 years.
I've seen too much over the years here. If you're the right person(s), everything flies. If not, then you get cut. It's not the HAMB I remember
Keep posting Your build here . This side of the forum seems to be more off topic than the main board . I’ve had a couple things deleted. I wish that a explanation would be provided as to why . That would be the courtesy thing to do . I once posted my stock 42 Chevy 1 1/2 ton truck on a thread . It got cut because it was a large truck . But they allowed AA Ford trucks to be shown . Which made no sense to me .
I think the logical, courteous, ethical and informative way to delete a thread would be to point out the SPECIFIC reason a thread is deleted would better serve the current and future members of the forum. Simply deleting a thread with no comment does nothing but cause confusion and resentment. "Transparent" communication educates, informs and soothes nerves. MHO, YMMV

It strikes me as a little funny how some members can be here for so long and have no idea what the focus of this forum is. I looked at the cab again and decided that I really don't want to try and widen it at the windshield posts. Cutting this cab apart and keeping all of the pieces usable would be a chore. I need to learn to love the industrial look.
Anybody have thoughts on an attractive way to lay out this many gauges and the idiot light cluster? Not really wanting them spread out across the dash in a straight line like an 80's street rod. 6 gauge panel and the other 2 in an underdash panel? Idiot lights under the dash too? Any dash modifications are fair game, this is a blank slate waiting on a good idea. These gauges are from the drivetrain donor.
Look up FED trucks they had a flat dash with a oval shaped gauge cluster. The cluster has been used in hot rods . I know where a truck is at . I’ll get a picture of the dash and post it here .
The drivetrain donor for this thing is a class A motorhome. It is built out of some wonderful components, but holy hell it has been a chore tracing down the wiring for the parts I want to keep....without a wiring diagram. Free always has an asterisk.
I’m always shocked at the amount of wiring in a donor vehicle and how everything seems to be integrated and difficult to separate. You’d think the drivetrain wiring would be a separate harness but it’s not. good luck, take your time and make notes as you go, in 10 years when it suddenly doesn’t have spark you’ll want notes on how it was built, ask me how I know.
No ignition system to worry about. It is a big turbo diesel with a mechanical injection pump. The Allison transmission is what has my full attention as far as wiring goes. It is the only thing I will use that has an ecu. Everything else is pretty basic stuff.
That makes things a little easier! My first donor project was the opposite, the only wiring on the transmission was for backup lights but I retained the OT ignition and fuel delivery system. the nice thing about using a donor is you know it ran and all the parts worked together before you started the project.
The closest off the shelf type panel I thought of for a bunch of gauges. This plus a 2 pod under the dash.
You have room for a Stewart Warner Hollywood panel ? look up old 70’s -80’s peterbuilts had some snazzy gauge clusters
Not if you do not right lol, can you make some custom bezels to make the donor gauges look nicer in that panel ?
Black bezels aren't the problem, it's the square orange and tan graphics on the round gauge faces that make them look like they don't belong.
