History Ryan - History of the HAMB?

The main reason I don’t come
Back very much is because I don’t understand all these fancy doo dads and buttons. I got friends that tell

So I come by and look.

Everyone always thinks Ryan and I don’t like each other. Honestly, Ryan is my boy but this is Ryan’s house. We were just fucking dumb kids and someone needed to regulate the shit we were doing. We posted pictures of naked chicks, parties, drug use etc. we addressed each other by names that are not considered PC.
That’s just how we rolled.
I’d like to be known more for my collection or my fabrication skills more then I would for the stupid shit I did but I was always the guy who didn’t think first before I reacted.
There’s always guys who still wanna take a shot at me for shit that happened 20 years ago but “haters” are part of the game.
Jimmy White and Rob F and Shag and Cole and Tman to name just a few are still my best boys to this days. I talk to Jimmy weekly.

someday Ryan and I will meet up and eat a steak or something.

@Germ I didn't know you when I joined, I had to look up what was left. I immediately said to myself "I get it" but you're right. In some twisted not-allowed-to-speak-of paradigm things became more civilized. Civilized is good, in moderation that is. ½ of this thing we like be it bikes, customs, hot rods, racers, none of it is for pussies. And most things said are just that, said. The end. Kids and moms and wives are off limits, always have been but past that if ya can't take the heat, well...

It is a kinder and more gentle place for sure. I miss the old days sometimes.

Intersting. I followed along with you many years ago but sometimes I got lost. I actually met you in person once I think at Bonneville about 20 years ago. Times change. I liked you then, and like you more now by your last statement.

 

We can all enjoy that as "nicer" as the HAMB has become it's still a lot more loose than some of the other shit out there. On one board if you say shit, damn or hell you get a PM saying watch your language...

Hello Kids.

 

I feel you Mark. It helped make an otherwise intimidating environment seem downright mental, along with the dude who tried to speak with the Vietnamese accent - the old HAMB was a swift flowing river of sarcasm and street-tough intimidation that was not easy to jump into. Or at least, in my case anyway, took a lot of lurking and time to find a comfortable sweet spot.
But kudos to @Germ for owning it and coming out clean on the other side. It was fun watching him re-emerge from the Dark Side in 2009, coherently stumping for Masterson and Barris.
