Art & Inspiration That junk pile got a name?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Dec 6, 2022.

  1. I guess mine have names too. The wife, kids, and grandkids all know what to call each one. { The Delivery } { The HEMI } { The Nomad } { The Vette } and { The UFO } 336.jpg All very generic except for the 29 coupe. A little old lady kinda named it many years ago. One night at a McDonalds, she asked me what I was driving? I said, an old Ford Hot Rod. She then said jokingly, well I thought it was a U.F.O. landing. So the next time I got tags. They were { LO UFO } , and the name stuck.

Ordinarily they ae just "the 32", "the 36" etc...but...

One day I was talking to a buddy who commented that, after I'd been driving my old Sedan Deliv. for over 5 years and it was still in primer. He mistakenly asked "when are you going to paint it?"

My response was to make a loose fist in front of my zipper, making a jerking off motion, and I replied "prime this".

Well my wife saw all this and said "that's disgusting" and burst out laughing.

She said "I think you just named the car". 32a.jpg

Simple. Her car, my truck or my pickup, and the Lincoln. They all look different so we both know which one we’re talking about.

However, any of the three can have a different name if I’m working on one of them and things aren’t going right….and most of them would make a sailor blush!!!!

Had a Pontiac Astre winter beater, was referred to as the Dis-Astre.

  7. Ha, had to laugh at the tree comment ... years ago, in our front yard, we found a tiny little sprout of plant (talking a few inches high here) with a single leaf on it. Based on that single leaf, it was clear this was the start of a maple tree. We popped it out of the ground (based on its miniscule size, there was no digging required) and moved it to our backyard. I don't know how many years ago that was but the tree is now probably 30 ft tall. His name is Bud as that is what he was when we found him ... just a tiny bud trying to make it big in the world. Years before that I found a hamster in the garage (absolutely no idea where the little guy came from) ... we named him Jack Stand since he was near them when first spotted.

I have never been tested but I am pretty sure I may be a sandwich or two short of a full picnic ;) :D

No Marty, the 'C Note' went away in my Highschool days for another mild custom '49 Chevy.
Made the Grapevine Tribute out of a '52 Chevy that I got from "Attastude" RIP.. ,Jon Carr's ("53Olds")
    late Grandfather.
I did name it also...Larry called his "Grapevine"... so I did a play on words, called it, "Gra-Vin Image"

I was calling my hotrod "Tom's Duallie," but my son, Tom, really isn't into hotrods and is too big to fit inside this one, so lately it's been referred to as the hotrod or the truck. After 48 years of fooling with it, I also call it "deferred gratification" after all the starts and pauses it has undergone during life's changes.

Not very nice. Basically that lying A-hole that keeps promising to fix us

  20. My daughter named our ‘56 Fairlane, “Rain Drop” because of the color.

  21. Guess I'm gonna name my 52 GMC Lloyd then. Because I did build it myself, it is finished (enough), runs and drives (even been to Lloyd's place), and has never had a name until now (thanks to Lloyd). Has some similarities to Lloyd as well, little rough around the edges and can always use some upgrades. :D

Fun fact, when I was born, my sister got to choose my name, and it was Richard, which would've meant i was a real Dick, but my uncle Lloyd was gone to Vietnam, and my grandma insisted I be named Lloyd because they hadn't heard from my uncle in a long time, and was afraid he wasn't coming home. My dad was killed in Vietnam also.

  26. Squirrel's got me beat by a bunch. But the GMC Lloyd has been to Bonneville twice, driven cross country, plus a whole lot of miles locally. Even has a few thousand being flat towed behind my motorhome.

When I got my Roadster it had "Honey Louise" crudely carved into the steering wheel. So my wife decided that was the car's name.
