We are back on track again now after some downtime due to major flooding in our area, thankfully the workshop the coupe is in stayed dry! Inside the trunk is now painted and this week the trunklid inner and door inners will be painted too. The rear fenders have had the inside coated and fitted up hopefully for the last time, I'm happy with the fenderwelting finish. It's certainly rewarding starting the assembly process, in my mind I can already hear the car running.
Hagan rings are gone, made some clips to suit the Ford Rings, a little more fine tuning needed but WAAAAAYY better than the Hagan rings
@34 Airflow Are your sill plates in good usable shape; or what's your plan for those? Although mine are complete, they are really rough. I thought of trying to massage some SS into shape.
Yeah I don't have any sill plates at all for the car so I will have to make something suitable. The headlights are a big improvement, and it's with thanks to you @Squablow
Not a heap of progress over Christmas and New Year, aside from hanging the doors and bootlid back on. We have a few things to sort out with the engine and transmission before the front goes back on, along with changing the wheels.
A little more progress finally! Exhaust system is completed and we had a preview with the bumper on to ensure we had the tailpipes hidden away. Hopefully in the next few weeks the front sheetmetal will go back on and we can go for a test run.
Tail lights are Dodge/Plymouth and were already on the car when I got it. We moved them up so they weren't pointing at the ground and fitted the fuel filler in behind one of them.
We put the front together over the weekend and got it sitting in place now that we have the car running. Slowly getting ready for a road test!
Still chipping away at a few jobs before the car heads off to the trimmers, bonnet (hood) is now on along with the front bumper and loads of other small jobs, hopefully in another week it will be ready for trim. We'll get the wheels swapped in the next few days too.
I know the Cragars were just rollers for mockup, and I don't even hate Cragars, I love them on the right car. But this wheel and tire swap is one of the best in the history of mankind. Not sure I could have resisted doing that sooner.
I wanted to get most of the dirty work out of the way before I put them on, but I wish I had done it sooner as the level of inspiration has risen. The Cragars will be kept in the shed for a future project as I don't hate them as a wheel just not for this build. Thanks again for your guidance on the headlight trims too! @rustydusty glad to hear I am providing some inspiration as others have done the same to get my build to where it is so far!
