That is truth! You would be amazed at what $500,000 buys around here. Starter home, 1500 square feet, tiny garage that you can't park a car in, zero lot line construction mostly so most share a wall with someone. I paid $75k for my first house here in 1982. Same house is $650,000 today. I pity first time home buyers.
Nice idea and thanks for the offer. If I was one the of the rich guys I would fly in, buy someone's hot rod and come play. Then leave it with you for the next adventure.

Then we need to decide if it's gonna be 1/4 or 1/8 mile racing.
Lloyd, what track do you recommend? I may have to get a new pumpkin with some 1/8 mile friendly gears for the ''poor man's quick change''.

Also, this is no kidding -
I knew a guy that was a cop just so he stayed outta jail.
It was a fine line, I'm still in awe.

Gotta be honest, on an average night, if you go over to clay city drag strip, it's mostly late model street cars and diesel trucks  not so much that way here by the house. Actually closer to nostalgia racing than not. There are a few junior dragsters, but I don't complain, it's great to see kids involved in racing, rather than a cell phone in my opinion.

So the 1/8 mile track, closer to ''base camp'' may suit us best? @mad mikey ??

I have watched some of those Junior dragsters and think that is the coolest thing I ever saw! I involved my son in motorcross, at a very early age! Some of the best times in my life! I see that with the father and sons in the junior dragsters! I think it should be encouraged, at every track!

There's a strong Junior Dragster following Down Under. Most events will field a dozen or more of them. Relatively cheap to get into, but like anything can become a money-pit if you go chasing every poofteenth of power out of a Brigs and Stratton engine.

    Cheers,

I'm about 500 miles away from the west coast, but I've been to races in New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, N and S Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.

It sure takes a lot of driving, though.

Not just fathers and sons. Leah Pruett, Top Fuel drag racer started out in NHRA Jr. drag racing.

  19. @Bandit Billy, you scared to drive that shiny roadster that far? Might be too much time cleaning? :D:p
As @flamedabone has so eloquently said in the past, you a wuss if you don’t!

We are saving our nickels and dimes so we can buy the gas to come to Lloyd's fest. I think we are up to almost $3.25 now! :D

The real issue is we have a 6 day event 700 miles west of us just 3 weeks before Lloyd's fest, then Lloyd's fest is almost 700 miles east of us and another 6 day event (we drive slow and don't camp). That's lots of hotel rooms and lots of gas really close together, all on the same charge card monthly bill. We will have to see how the first 6 months of 2023 work out, but at this point, we are still planning on being there.

    Hey, Gene;
"We drive slow & don't camp". So, just slow steady driving & switch drivers as needed, sleep in back seat, even front seat. I still call those Straight-Through-Trips "Suicide Runs"... :D . Recovery sure takes longer nowadays... ;( .
    Marcus...

  22. Yes, but we don't deal with the critters (snakes, chiggers, etc.) that they do! But let's keep that secret between us, OK?

  23. Just enough to keep the moss on our backs growing. Actually, the area @Bandit Billy and I live the annual rainfall is normally 45" or so, with less than 10" of snow. Having said that, a lot of people get season depression because of the lack of winter sunshine. We don't have hurricanes and tornadoes, so we've got that going for us...

  24. @Bandit Billy I'm not sure about what you're gonna do, but I'm keeping my brass monkey inside Thursday and Friday nights

  25. Life is always a compromise. At least you've got good local Bourbon!

  26. Hey @Bandit Billy ... I'd bet there are golf courses nearby.... Is THAT enough incentive for you? And don't forget the Kentucky Bourbon samplers you could get locally!

Hey Lloyd, how far are you from Bardstown? That is the town to drink whiskey in! I accidentally stopped there several years ago during the exact time they were having the whiskey festival or something like that! I had a blast….I think!

  28. So, hey... I just found out that there's an airbnb right down there in Clay City, Kentucky that will take you on a "Guided Bigfoot Hunt"! Man, I've always wanted to hunt a Bigfoot!

I might hit this place up a few days before Lloyd's shindig. Can I get a quick headcount? I'm not entirely sure how many people one standard sized bigfoot can feed, but I'm guessin' someone who calls himself a "Local Kentucky Bigfoot Expert" should know. :p

I'm gonna say 80 miles. Woodford county is closer. They have tours at all the distilleries and tasting.

Red river gorge and natural Bridge state park. Beautiful scenery, that's where the Nada tunnel is that scotty posted a picture of. A cruise through there might be in order.
