Looks good, I like the plan.

Are you aware that new 1 piece bumpers are reproduced for these cars? They won't have the bolt heads shaved, which maybe that is your plan, but if you just want to eliminate the vertical bumper guards and make the bumpers one piece, you can buy them new. Not sure how easy they'd be to get to Norway, but here in the States it's pretty easy (unless your car was one of the lucky few to get 1 piece bumpers from the factory.)

According to his website (www.langdonsstovebolt.com), he is still in business, but will be cutting back his hours starting next Monday. He passed the later inliner stuff to Tom Lowe (www.12bolt.com) a while back, but he's still doing early Chevy inline stuff. I got my carbs and cam for my 261 from him two years ago....very helpful and knowledgeable guy. Can't recommend him highly enough!

Ok, so i have decided that Im going to change it up a bit after all.
-53 chevy grille surround with 54 desoto grille
-50-52 Buick tail lights mounted like Watsons Heartless
-Maybe frenched headlights using 52-54 merc rings(on the fence)
    -All the before mentioned deletes.

on the other hand, the grille surround on Jimmies 51 looks much cleaner than a 53 item. And way cheaper.
Gotta love those lake pipes also.
Anybody know where i can Get a good looking set of pipes, that looks right?

Very cool ride! Little inspiration from my past. 8D3F3A8F-C1AF-42D3-B171-B280A94B6747.jpeg Miss mine but I’ve upgraded since. 54 235 with a T5 and a 10 bolt out of a fire bird. Car flew down the freeway. D52C4D02-0608-4B69-AF39-596B64CC2875.jpeg

    Love these old Chevies....

Here is a 52 sedan I did back in the eighties, 56 Buick side trim, 57 Buick grille, 54 235 with a thickstun intake and 2 YF carters. 3 inch blocks out back , cut coils and stepped a arms up front. 3.55 PG gears and she went down the freeway with ease.... this was the car that got sold in my divorce sale grrrrrrrrr.....

I really feel the urge to make a new grille surround. Jimmie Vaughans car further up in the thread makes everything thingle.

  14. a 292 straight 6 from a truck would be a cool build... plenty of torque too.

Agree. But not an easy find here in Norway for some reason. Ive got a early 235 in it now but i have a later oil pressure one that im putting together for it now. Better bearings also. And a few horses more than the old one. Its not a race car with the powerglide anyway.

  16. Ahh, well, since you've got an auto, a 235 will be plenty.

  18. Beautiful coupe @LarsL . It sounds like you have things planned out pretty well. Good luck with your Chevy. I bought my '49 coupe in '85 and it has gone through a few changes since then. It currently has a 1955 235 with a '62 "848" head and crank, dual exhaust with Fenton headers with the original 3 speed transmission and it's been driven over 24,000 miles since 2009. Here are some shots of the FortyNiner and friends over the years.

    Ahhh. All those choices.
Now i got two options for the grille.
    54 desoto or 49 cadillac.
Also got a pair of 54 pontiac wagon tail lights on hand. Those would look cool frenched like the Barris Buick. I think the match between those and the cad grille would be rad.

Gorgeous ride! Factory automatic? That is a rare car!!

  26. Customize it, Lowered, Bull Nose, Nosed and Decked, primer spots. That should take only a day or two then move on to the engine swap.

Im on those things allready. I really want to change the grille and the tail lights. Everything else is a given. Its low enough now, It dont show that good in the pics but it got the speedboat stance i like. Too low is not cool in my book.

I think that the 2 different grilles will be 2 different styles. The 54 desoto in a custom grille surround will be more badass and can match with lake pipes and such.
The 49 cad grille will offer more of a classy uncluttered look.
I really dig the Marcia Campbell and Jeff Whiteley chevys that both share the cad grille treatment but also dig such cars as the Jimmie Vaughan fleetline that have floating tooth grilles.

Lars, real cool chevy coupe! I love these coupes with their short roof and long ass. Keep up the good work.
