Very cool. What's your rear suspension setup? Dearched buggy spring, z'd frame, coilovers, etc?

 

Boxed original frame with no Z because I wanted to run original back seat. Quarter eliptic springs in rear with Pete and Jakes ladder bars and 57 Ford 9 inch. Up front split bones with SoCal forged axle with Posies spring. I originally built it with Merc flatty and 5 speed. Flathead cracked so I pulled it and put in a fresh 283 with the 5 speed.

 

How does it ride with the quarter eliptics? That's an interesting setup. The stance is great! I have a 283 for my 28 Roadster Pickup and plan to run a very similar suspension setup, still deciding on the rear springs.

 

It rides great. I have no use for coil overs. This was my first try using this setup. I usually run the buggy spring with a Z. Definitely worth you taking a look at some setups online. Not sure I have a good pic of the setup but I’ll look.

 

Thanks for the photos! That looks like it solves all kinds of problems related to running a stock buggy spring! I don't really want to Z the frame and have no desire for coilovers but also want it nice and low in the back. That seems like a good option...

 

You’re welcome. It’s not as low as I like them in the rear but it’s not bad and it rides way better than coil overs! Good luck with your project!

When I first built this car the only wheels I had to make it a roller were the uglist wheel ever produced. The only pictures I have of this car were with those ugly wheels on it. I have tried a couple of three times to post on this thread and one of the moderators keeps deleting my post and I am sure it is because of those ugly more modern style wheels. I replaced those ugly ass things years ago but never tool any additional pictures. So I am trying again just some old pictures of different angle.

Yep. I bought a complete set for my 31 sedan from a restored car being rodded. I want them on my rod.

 

It’s one hell of a lot of work, but I prefer them with fenders…

 

I can only hope mine will turn out as nice as yours.

How much is it chopped? Have you posted it over on the chopped sedan thread?

28/29 fenders are the most beautiful fenders ever made. Shit canning them has never made sense to me.

I chopped that 3”. I sold it 2 years ago. The Chrisman sedan was my inspiration to build it. I like 28/29 fenders also. I used 29 fronts on the 31 sedan I built in the 80s. I prefer most A models with full fenders.
