Ha, my dad loved that song. When dad was alive we often sang along to the Everly brothers when we were cruising. As far as picking a top song, impossible.
A couple years back I became the beck and call boy for my older brother and his wife. He was suffering terribly with stage 4 lung cancer, and his wife is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. He wasn't given much time, like weeks, to live. He was undergoing Immune Therapy, which was administered in a group setting, with usually 8 other patients in the same small room. The concoction was given through a "port" which went directly to the jugular vein. No one in the room was very cheery, with lots of sad faces. Soooo, being the shit disturber that I can be, I took out my phone, turned the volume up as high as it would go, and played one of my favorite car tunes.....You probably wondered where this was going....... The tune I played was "Transfusion" by Nervous Norvus.. Perfect for the occasion. Everyone perked up, lots of smiles, lots of conversation. My brother, who is now 85, is 100% cancer free and drag races with me at Firebird Raceway. Was it the song, who knows, but it certainly didn't hurt matters...
Actually most real bikers prefer any music that gets your blood pumpin. Like Thunder Struck for example or Fire Lake. As for car music the first song that I remember that was about cars and has always been my go to car song is Dead Man's Curve [Jan and Dean]. BTW this is actually "Bubble Gum Music"
Bruce, You, I, and maybe a few others on here remember listening to that when it came out. Pass the blood to me bud !
The song credited with being the first rock-n-roll song ever: Rocket 88 by Jackie Brentson (Ike Turner on keys).
It's sure not the top hot rod song. But... Your 409s and your 413s might have a little trouble with this pos old coupe. "Sleeper" by The Trashmen "...9.0 flat in the 1/4 mile..."
Hey Marty, I guess it's just us old farts that remember the weird crap !!! That's what makes us special.... I believe "Transfusion" came out in '55.....
Body by fisher and a face like Frankenstein- 36' window coupes, and going going gone- the deuce coupes. Lots of cool car sounds in the back ground .
