Projects 1930 Oliver Roadster Build

Mark made a great point, if I dont get the cleaeance when I pie cut the bones, I can always heat between the eyes and bend the steerimg arm eye outward and likely get plenty of clearance! I love the HAMB

 

Made some progress in the back...I have been trying to figure out how I was going to make this all come together. I knew it would work somehow but had to play with it. It took a piece from the back of a 39 buick to make it work. Compound curves, no english wheel. Still a ways to go and a lot more cleanup but this is gonna work!

 

The donor of the magic piece haha the car is now, 25 dodge, 26 chevy, 27 chevy, 37 ford, 39 ford, 39 buick, 49 lincoln

Started on fitting it all together today, slow work but no big issues... got it about halfway. I dig the profile... oh and heres a pic of the underside for those of you who think I never clean metal

 

Started a youtube channel and did a video on the car

 

Looks like the old days before 1-800 parts. Taking old parts and making a cool hot rod. I like the video. Keep up the good work.

Did another video last night

 

Finished the dash (mostly) tonight and got to see it in the car! Speedo is 36 nash, guage pods are 50 merc I think. Even did a video on it

 

I refer to my early Dodge Brothers stuff as Pre Mopars!

Little progresses tonight, got one of my backing plates stripped, primered and painted. I finally put the catch on the drivers side so the door latches. I also started on a scratch built set of f1 shock mounts. The originals and repops cost more than I wanna pay for a little piece of metal so I just decided to crank out a pair myself, total finished cost will be about 3-5 bucks

 

This my favorite build. It’s a lot like I’m going to try. I’m learning a lot so keep up the good work!

Welded in a patch panel and added an interior door knob tonight. Small victories but progress!

 

Cpl more patches, b pillar is finally sturdy enough that the door latches on its own when you slam it now instead of having to hold the latch open. Will obviously need a little more grinding and sanding but you get the idea. I also lowered the b pillar to match the door height. It was about 1/4" proud before

 

Have a tail light plan, going to run these 6 beehives, 2 bigs and a little each side. All 6 lit as tail lights but dual filaments so I have brakes and turn sigs
Will likely french em 3/4" too

 

Little more progress today, temp mounted my split bones (will weld eventually) also started work on the trunk lid!

Love that 49 lincoln inner structure, looks like a custom dimple die setup

 

Snuck back out and made more progress. It is slowly becoming a trunk lid!
Once I get the basic structure solid, I will pull it off and make it pretty!
